Squidoo was the latest Internet marketing fad up on my "chopping block" as a Fad or Fab? feature at www.FadMarketing.com. Check out the feature to see whether Squidoo's just a marketing fad, or whether it has some staying power, and feel free to comment on the blog, whether you agree or disagree (if you disagree, just be sure to say why, and if you've used it, leave a comment about whether or not it's working for you). Tomorrow's Fad or Fab? victim??? Linkbaiting! Jenn
i've been reading about this from other posts in the forum and have yet to set it up.....but i am going to do it right now and will give feedback over the next few weeks to see what if anything comes of it ! tony ;~)
- squidoo lens is no different to other social networking website, they need effort and content. some times I have some lens that rank well with will help to get traffic to your website or drive traffic to your website. I have many lens but all of them are new and just one are indexed by google.
I started a lens, havent seen any traffic coming from it. My opinion right now is that squidoo is overrated much like myspace. Its a type of marketing that works well for some and not well for others.
I made a squidoo lenses since a listing of lenses came up for a keyword I was trying to optimize for...but I haven't touched it since. I don't really understand the point of squidoo right now, don't know why.
Then read the info at the blog I linked in the original post, and you'll understand the basics of how it works marketing-wise.
My squidoo lenses are still new and don't seem to be offering any link benefit for me. BUT I do notice that my myspace blog gets picked up quick so those back links are beneficial! I'm hoping to see similar benefits with squidoo but too soon to tell.
I think when I'm not so lazy I'll get around to setting up some squidoo lenses...after seeing a particular one I'm quite intrigued as to what I could potentially do...
I still havent seen any benefits from Squidoo, I don't really understand what its supposed to do I guess.
I put up several lenses, one for our novel, Over Time, a lens for our nonfiction book, The Publishing Primer: A Blueprint for an Author's Success, and one directed toward Internet Marketers. I don't get any traffic from them. Dee
Well, I don't get direct traffic (or at least much) from my lenses because I won't put the time into them anymore to try to get into the top 100... but I used to do OK in that sense. The best perk is that most of my lenses went to PR3 very quickly, meaning an ok relevant backlink to my own sites linked to from the lenses. I also make a few dollars per month with it... was making $12-16 earlier, but now down to like $6-10 between my three accounts monthly... not great, but since I'm really not putting any effort in besides a quick setup, it's not terrible either.
Hi Jenn. Thanks for posting this. I was about to post a question thread re squidoo. Glad I didn't have to. Thanks! To show my appreciation, I "stumbled" on the page and it got added to Stumbleupon.com's rotation.
Hmm interesting, A few extra bucks a month would be worth it in my eyes. Every little way to make money is like a little stream floating into a big river
lol That's true. If that's all I made from a site I put time into regularly, I'd be worried. But for a simple one-page thing I only touch a few times (or once in some cases), it's not too bad.
Squiddo is a easy and fast way of getting ranked. It should be considered another tool to drive traffic to your site. While you can have good results in terms of sales with just a lens it really should not be a stand alone item. The best part is it's FREE! Stavra
Bottom line it's a free tool that has a 50/50 shot of sending you some traffic, it's worth adding to your marketing tools.
The biggest thing is finding a topic that is main stream enough to get traffic, currently I have a lense for building credit - http://www.squidoo.com/getcredit365/ Currently im around #650 in the Business area, the closer I get to #1 the more traffic I have been getting, for instance I was #400 for a couple days and was getting 10-20 visitors a day to my main site according to G Analytics... Also, I dont know if its coincidence that I changed the page title structure for my credit card pages but I made a link "plexo" which is pretty much a list of links and added almost all of my credit card category pages, within about a week they were pulled out of Supplemental Results Also, if you do check out my lense and find it useful, gimme a star
