That is WHY its RIDICULOUS and STUPID coming from them.

You and I both know how hard we worked for our sites and would just be a snap of a finger for a competitor to turn us IN.

wow, everyone is freaking out because of this, I kinda thought links would eventually end up losing their value with google

Google doesent need to look at links so much when it can look at your domain age, relevency and and.............hmm maybe they do need to use links

So now you will be seeing people getting crazy to by old domains?? (nahh .. I don’t think so)

I seriously can’t understand what G is up to?? If they really mean what it says, most of the BIG Guns r going to be out of market. Starting with Yahoo Directory.

    And that just can’t happen.

this is hilarious, what does google have to do with it? isn't it the same for google if the link is in a free directory or it is in a paid one?

Somebody that is buying it for a competitor so they can bring their competitor's site DOWN
    I don't find that to be true!:p

They do take quite a while with the review process sometimes. They will definately need their own special team for the spam reports that come in with the special word "paidlinks" inside of them.

I have a ton of links at my site, not paid, but there for helping people find useful things. I spent a while last night adding the "no follow" tag to these links.. Still have a lot of work to do because these links are on most of my pages. I couldn't figure out how to do it any easier way than just hand editing. I could't put the no follow as a constant rule because I do have a handful of links that are on my site as "traded". I don't even have a PR with Goog, maybe next update, I'll get one :)

PS. What should I do about the word cloud I am developing??

It's a review fee:) I wont worry so much about it, if Google persist to "police" the web, Google would go down. Less support for them, by the same people who brought them to where they are. So I wont worry as much, besides as a directory owners we provide services much like everyone one else.

I don't think he is saying you will be banned, he is saying your links will have no value. So if you was selling links on your site they would devalue your links so they pass no juice to anyone who you link to.
I think a lot of people have been thinking directory links are going to be hugely devalued soon anyway. Google knows the only reason they are brought for is PR and SERPS. And directories are an extremely easy target for google, its not like its hard to spot whether its a paid link or not.
Yahoo dir and business passing no weight doesn't sound so extreme to me, don't no why you think thats such a big deal? Do you really think the pr9 and p10 sites who sell links pass any weight?

My sites aren't webmaster related, why would i want a 1000 unrelated sig links pointing to my sites? What benefit could i get from that..
It doesn't take a genius to work out google doesn't like links brought to manipulate SERPS and that is the only reason people buy directory links.

All are not webmaster related, they serve no purpose to webmasters, so why would i put them in my sig at a webmaster forum, do you find that hard to understand? See fryman, with 8k or so posts and no link to his sites in his profile, i wonder why.

What about payperpost or reviewme or other paid posting ?

    Those aren't selling links ?

I think this "paid link" report is really stupid...

Gogol needs to realized that search engine manipulation is a part of the game, they should just focus on their search to illiminate spams or results that need not be there.

No matter how they will do it, there will be a new way of doing it, no scaping that, it's a fact of life.

I would be an anti-gogol if they did that.

As directory owners, we exclude bad and spam sites for search engine. I don't think google will take action against directory.

Matt Cutts expresses his personal views on his BLOG (see disclaimer) --

If you want the official Google BLOG-- go here

    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/
I am never scared or bothered by all these SPAM report or something like that. Why????
Because I follow only what Google's official guideline is.

Google will do nothing except banning you from Search Results. So what --Directories do not depend on Search Engine Traffic. Go everywhere on the Net --you will find Alive, Aviva, V7N's banner --our traffic comes from our own marketing and advertsing strategies.
