Hello, I have just read a post on this forums, about a site for dating, and I saw something strange: the guy said that site is 1-2 weeks older, but I went to the site and google toolbar shows PR3 (1.500.000 Alexa). How is this possible ? My site, Free Software Downloads Archive has 2.5 months, I reached ~ 400.000 in Alexa, but PR is still 0. Is it possible that public PR has been updated but is not available "world wide" yet?
Ok. I think I will have to read more about this. I am at the very beginning with SEO and everything and some terms are pretty strange to me. Thank you.
there ara no relationship between alexa ranking and PR. PR depends on BackLinks, more BackLinks=More PR.
The site might be 1-2 week old but the domain might have a previous history. Hence from where the PR come's from. Buy a domain that has a page rank and put up a new site.
That would be the best possible answer. Expired PR domains is the only reason I can think of on how a really new site can acquire some PR. --Joe
There's just a link or multiple links pointing to it that is passing a PR3. The alexa thing is just crap and is based on browsers with the plugin. It's used by directories and others as just kinda a cool visual but not worth a warm bucket of spit.
I know there is no relationship between Alexa and PR. What I want to say is usually when you start a new site with new domain Alexa rank is ~2.000.000 (this was mine) and in order to reach 400.000 some time should pass, time in which you might catch a PR update.
Generally there is no relation with alexa rank and google pr . alexa trrafic is counted by visitors who has visited your site and have Alexa toobar installed ..(and this is not precise ) so the traffic by alexa cant be a reference ...
i believe time and alexa also has no relationship. pr and time has relationship but it has to be supported with continuos growth of backlinks.
He might have bought an old domain. If it is a completely new domain, he should not have PR as the toolbar PR updates every 3 months.
Ok. But this is not entirely true. There is a little relationship because Alexa rank can't drop in seconds, days ... for a new site.
ok. the only thing i know was you have a quality site and google was giving an importance to it. it was possible you can get a good pr on next update. 2.5 months with 54k index pages and 208 backlinks, youre very lucky.
Thank you for your kind words. I know I currently don't have unique content but I am planning to add some new features very soon. Also 54k pages and 208 links (it was very hard to get those and unfortunately they are not all very good) is a good status for my site age, BUT, my traffic has dropped from 400 after 2 months to 160 last week. I will work to get more backlinks and maybe then I will get better. I see people talking about 13k visitors/day ... for me this is like a dream, because right now I really don't know how can I go so far. BTW, how did you see those 208 backlinks? What tool did you use? In google, with link command I also see links from my site. I want to see only real backlinks.
