Will bid for position directories stick around?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by Solicitors Mortgages, Apr 13, 2007.

You read the question, what do you think?

In 6 months time will we all look and say "oh,no, it's one of those bidding directories" or will we say "great" and pay to submit our sites?

Just interested in what you think as I have no opinion of my own :D :D

as long as ones going to heaven then youll be alright...lol :p

Im sure you will find somthing to keep the flow going....

May i suggest you figure out a way to change the front page
as its going to get a little ruff when you have the front page
with $300-$1000 bids as Not many Fish will bite after that
NO MATTER how much PR you have
    ..... ;)

    thx

I was thinking about this too. I guess the difference between buying a normal link is that you're also buying an advertisement and proving you are a serious marketeer by investing to advertise. Be interesting to see how it pans out though :)

Only the top directories will survive in this case also....

I am surprise to see huge promotions by bigweblinks.com - GREAT GREAT - Another top from Chris.. :)
And good to see An0n also working on it.
Now lets wait for Jeff :D

Some with brain and some with $$$$ will survive this phenomenon and rake in the Mollah:D . But many will vanish in the thin air without trace:D

But is not it same for all niche categories and for websites? So this question is rather irrelevant IMO. :p

Well I would hardly expect someone who owns one to post "No, they will be dead in 20 minutes"
I ask because obviously I have thought about opening one but can't get past the "short-term" gain stage. Webmasters are a very fickle bunch (I guess that includes me) and hard to please until the next new thing comes along, a 10 deep link mod or a listing you can top-up, and I just want some opinions about longevity.... if you have one.

Some will not survive because they are unable to modify the concept, and have no room for expansion --- the others have long term staying power.

You have to decide which is which! :)

This concept is still so very new, give it some time to grow ... it wasn't that long ago people were asking if directories could survive!

I believe we are going to see some great innovations soon ...

Besides the big money has not entered the market yet!
Can't think of a decent idea that wasn't bought up by a big corp and screwed over before it died. :D

I guess if it has that kind of future it will only be a matter of time until it's an available mod for phpld, is anyone working on it, or is it done already?

alphabetic categories produce a bunch of pages containing non related links (link farms? ) The ones with normal categories like big web links have much higher chances to survive. (chris should slowdown the link buying though  )
