    this just theoretical:

Let's say there is a webpage X where you know he has expensive ads running. Let's say..some theoretical $50/CPC insurance ad ;)

So..what happens if i click there 1000 times...

The guy getting billed $50.000 ???????

No, that wouldn't happen for a number of reasons. Google has a pretty good algo to filter out invalid clicks, beginning with your IP address. The advertiser also will have provided a daily budget for their adwords campaign; once that budget has been met the ad will stop running.

It would not be likely. An unusually high CTR, multiple clicks by the same ip address, lots of clicks in a short period of time, these are all red flags to the ad networks. If you were to over do it like that, not only would the advertiser probably not get charged (if he/she is on top of the campaign and brings it up) but it is likely that the website would probably get banned from displaying ads (at least in the short term). So you'd probably affect the wrong person.

I have never heard of this happening, but I could imagine that a company that did get charged for those clicks could get the records from the ISP to determine who did it and then sue in civil court.

    Bad Karma, stay away....

Why would you like to do that? Also you cannot do it because Google tracks all clicks very well and they are supposed to have an extensive algorithm to check invalid/fradulent clicks. They might initially deduct, but they will later refund.

    ok,

i see the budget-issue...of course once the max daily budget is reached it doesnt go further.

But..theoretically i think tracking would be difficult..one could use several proxies and then with a script click on those ads thru the proxies...no way to track an IP.

As said...its just a theoretical question because i wondered about that.

They use other things besides IP to track/discount clicks.

And if you get caught and you yourself has a AdWords account Google will most likely ban your account. And if that happens you cannot get another one with your name or card name. They take it very seriously.

Google will see your clicking Ip address. Furthermore, if you have an adsense account they will see who logged in there and match the IP`s and you will lose your adsense account.

You may not ruin their account, that would be a streach.

But you could get yourself banned.

Not a good idea in any case.

Look at it from other point of view - some one bidding 50$/cpc are generally big shot companies. They won't even note such drain as they already account for some invalid clicks while starting campaign (heck they don't even run their own campaigns - its mostly some third party ad agency).

You may do it for few days - that won't hurt anyone but only waste of your time.

you will not ruin him much if he got a budget limit and also I think they wont count it much if you click more than 2 times as they have to prevent click fraud as well...

you couldnt ruin him, but you could do some damage. change your ip after clickin an expensive ad a few times. but do it slowly, then do it on every computer your at. i'll just run his bill up, but wont ruin him. unless you kept changin your ip and be patient before clicks
