Do any of you know what is this sky.com

is this a real SE or just a junk site?

Any help how to limit this SE from eating up all the Band width?

    Thanks

That would be a user of Sky Broadband. I'd contact Sky if they're using 2GB/day

    Just one visit

how to contact them to report the issue.

Even if some one has to copy my directory it should not take that much band width.

It is only 25 MB for the site may be 30 MB (Total allocated space is 50MB)

Not sure how they used 2GB in one shot.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Sounds like they have something against you, and used Wget or similar to repeatedly download your site. I'd just block them.

You can take the preventive step to block/deny that specific ip address from accessing your site.

What I feel is that it represent a single user who did this, if you ahve access to your raw log, check it out for further detail, also ask your webhost regarding the leech protection stuff.

Block them[in robots.txt] if they do not send you traffic.

I would definitely block the IP. I block a few that take up too much bandwidth for no good reason.

Sounds like you have a lot of visitors who use Sky Broadband. What amount of bandwidth does BT use?

    Sky isn't a search engine.

Sometimes you get this, it can be a rogue bot or one that's accidentally been badly programmed. Either way, block it by IP in .htaccess. That's always preferable to robots.txt, because malicious bots will ignore your robots directives.

I guess it doesn't matter where it comes from but I think it's probably best to just block that IP before it happens again ;)

Just block the ip and modify your robots.txt to deny the robot access.

The sky site uses google search so no idea why they would be 'spidering' your site...especially at that rate!
