Google shake down madness

Several of my sites are dropping from the index except the homepage. The rest of the pages are showing as supplemental results with the exact same description.

All my titles, meta description and meta keywords are unique.

The site used to have lots of indexed pages with google showing a unique description for each.

Google now seems to be taking my navigation as the description, hence all the descriptions in google are coming out the same.

Is it worth changing my site layout so the contents appear nearer the top of the page or is google just going mad.

Relax dear! It's not the time to do anything for Google as something is going on inside the Google.

Many peoples are lost their ranking in SERPs lasty month and get it back in current week. It happend with all during any search engine update.

Hopefully your website will be back sooon.

I had one site that was #1 for my chosen words for about a year - last month it disappeared off the radar - a few days ago it reappeared at #1.

google has a huge can that they put all the websites in, then they shake the can up, and pull results out one by one. this is of course done in milliseconds everytime you perform a search. sometimes the results fall out of the can from all the shaking, and they have to pick them up and put them back in. that's why websites disappear and reappear. i hope this answers your question.

Any idea why Google has given the exact same description to all my indexed pages being that each page is unique except for the navigation links.

This has been the case for several weeks now and there is no sign of things returning to normal.

google isn't giving the same description, it's just not using the description you gave it. without using a description, it shows the first words found on your site, which just happen to be your navigation. why isn't google using your description? ...my knowledge just ran out.

I have looked further into this and this seems to have started around mid to late march for my sites.

I am still being affected and my previously indexed pages are being eroded.

The responses I have been getting so far are either 'don't worry about it' or 'I am having the exact same problem'.

Well I have to worry as it's my livelihood, I estimate I have lost around $300 in income so far which is quite significant to me.

It is frustrating that Google can play these games, because thats what it is a game. I have never tried to 'game' google so why the cloak and dagger attitude, tell us whats wrong and stop being so vague.

Please keep your stories coming and share any information you have found.

Google is always trying to make their business better, and they will often try different things. They don't care about your $300 they care about their $300 million dollars, sad but true.
