How much money is in your paypal? I have around $1,200 which I am putting towards a laptop.

How much do you have in your Paypal, and what do you plan to do with it?

Every time I have money in there I always have something to spend it on, links, articles, sites, etc so usually I don't have much in there as I'm pulling from my bank account.

    for business purchases.

I receive around $2000/month, and I only keep a few hundred in my account and withdraw all the rest to my bank.

Only a couple of hundred - there's no point keeping too much in there because it doesn't earn anything.

Actually Paypal's money market is earning 5.04% last I checked... Not bad, and much better than any bank.

Does that mean you get paid interest on your PayPal balance? I didn't know that. That's a useful bit of info Mia.

Correct.. I made 3 figures this quarter.. It seems to bounce around 5.5 most times.. Not bad, if you ask me!

The other little known advantage to PayPal is that when you use your PayPal credit card for PURCHASES, (not as a debit card but as a credit card), you get a portion of the transaction. So every time I buy something I see a percentage of the purchase back. It's like getting a discount every time you buy something.

I use my PayPal card to pay my eBay fees, which keeps eBay from making even more money off me.

I haven't tried money market. It said you could lose money on it, so it scared me away. They invest your money don't they?

Seems too risky for me. Black thursday all over again :)

You don't lose money in a money market. It is like a regular savings account:
    http://money.howstuffworks.com/question724.htm

I've had a PayPal account since PayPal started and have been in the Money Market ever since and have never lost money.. The interest does go up and down though... But it is always a higher rate of return than a regular bank account.

Interesting. Is there a maximum amount of money you can put into the money market? Putting in a good $100,000 seems like it would do me good for a monthly job :)
