Hello everyone, a few months ago i ran a social networking site called facevault, its been closed and in redevelopment for a few months now, and yesterday i decided the layout needed a bit of a revamp, so i've made a start and wanted to get some early opinions on it.

    Heres a screenshot

please remember this is a very early in development screenshot

    Thanks in advance

Not bad at all! Very nice design! Clean and easy on the eyes. Just one comment: the multi-colored "vault" word somehow ruins the overall look. Or maybe it's just me.

Very web 2.0! I like the text part of the logo (the colors are great) for the person icon I would add something else to it.. maybe hair? It looks too plain.

    First one looks best.
Ad placement is good on the last one. Though I dont think you should place the login at the very bottom. It should be where you can immediatly see it.

Both of them will be used. the first one is just the homepage.....the other one is what all other pages wil be like as we dont want huge header on all pages :)....

the login at the bottom is more of a quck login and wont even display to most users, as they will allready be logged in when they are viewing pages.

Firstly, hi! I'm new to this site, my name's Phil! :)

I couldn't help noticing the reflection effect which seems to be quite modern now. I'm using it pretty much myself for logos and sites and although many people (already) consider it cliché I think you've used it pretty well (as in in place).
What I think you could improve is set a slightly darker border on the inside frame 'cause it merges with the white section now and seems (to me) a little... erm ... not finished :)
Everything else is lovely! Good job! :D

It will all be very simple, and extreamly easy to use.....quite alot of ajax being used in the actual devleopment of the site to spice it up a bit :)

like you said it will be the content that makes it look better realy :)
