What is my site worth? $13,100 profit in 1 month

Discussion in 'Sites' started by itsjinx, Apr 12, 2007.

Just wondering what the purchase price of my site would be? Any thoughts are appreciated.

    - Profit last month was $13,100 with about $100 in expenses.
    - I sell software
    - All sales are organic from google and other Search Engines
    - Little expenses - $100 last month
    - Previous 5 months profit were around $6k and I bought the site a month ago and already doubled profit this month by simple free advertising methods and there is no reason it won't keep going up.

Any idea what its worth? Also, slightly-curious of any offers.

    thanks!

Based on 1 months revenue buyers will be cautious. If revenue is stable and you keep it for 3-6 months, then you will increase it's selling price ten fold.

What would you suggest a strong buyer would pay for it now based on the fact that net profit was 5-6k the last 5 months and last month it was 13k?

and say I kept it for 3 more months and atleast maintained the profit, what would that purchase price be?

As you may know a lot of sites sell for 10 to 15 times their monthly profit.

The length of time it takes to run and manage the site will probably be a significant factor in the price.

thanks for your response. there is no managing the site. i haven't even looked at my site in a couple weeks. The only work is answering customer emails and helping those who have trouble with the software which may be an hour a day. the site is a PR 4 if that helps too.

I've never heard of a site going for 10 to 15 times monthly profit. from what i've seen, its usually 6 at most, but correct me if i'm wrong. maybe with bigger profit sites it is more?

If you sold it now, it would be based on the 5k a month average you have been getting, so selling price would be around $50,000. If you kept it for more than 3 months and maintained $13k profit monthly, low estimate selling price would be $130,000, but anything upto $200,000 would be a fair asking price.

You make an average of 1k$ a month. And last month you had a profit of 13k$? Or am I reading wrong?

Because you're website is seo friendly and don't costs too much. I think 10, 15*monthly profit ;).

A url would help ofcourse ;).

I'm quite sure a site with steady $13k profit over 6-12 months will sell for at least 20x. One month only profits would probably encourage only a 4x-6x.

    IMO

you read something wrong. site made bout 5k-6k the last 5 months and this very last month it profited 13k.

thanks for all your answers. where would I be able to get a sale like that? I wasn't expecting anymore than 60-70k for this. I know sitepoint is a good site to sell but is there a better one? because on sitepoint I don't think i've ever seen a site go for anything over 6 times monthly profit..

Go to Sitepoint, but sell it in the premier site section ($40). You will find a buyer there for sure. Start the auction with a competitive starting bid, such as $30k, but I recommend putting a minimum reserve of $45k on it. The lower start price will entice bidders.

Why would you even want to sell this site? It sounds like something you will be able to continue to grow with very little work.
