Does anyone here jump rope for cardio? Its something that alot of boxers do, well all boxers and kickboxers pretty much.

I heard that 15 min of jump rope is like running for 30 min at least as far as cardio is concerned.

I have been doing it for a little while, I didnt take it easy enough at first and hurt my legs kinda, you really have to start off real easy like only 2 min a day then work your way up or you could mess up your legs/feet.

you are talking about the skipping!!
yes i do it, and it helps. don't over do it, just a minute or two to start with, and then slowly increase it.

do other warm ups, like streaching etc, and then it will help. any kind of jump excersize helps the cardio a lot!:)

LOL, I read if you were in good health you should be able to jump 100 times within a particular time period. I did it and could not walk the next day. Jumped over the rope each time so I landed on right ball of foot. Had to wear high heels the next day because ham string was tied in knots. :)

its so easy to hurt yourself because you dont realize how much impact you are causing on your feet/legs.

I used to Jump rope before I started any sport.

Too bad I'm too lazy now, I don't think I can skip 2-3 times now.

Its better than running imo because I dont have to change my clothes then go outside and get hit by cars. I'm too poor and dont have room for a treadmill.

I keep meaning to start skipping again, but you know what it's like, too many distractions.

I'm not good in that. I'd rather jog in the park.

I like jumping rope as opposed to jogging because all you gotta do is grap your robe and jump in your garage as opposed to suiting up and driving somewhere.

Jumping rope is definitely a good workout, I prefer it much better than jogging! But, it is always very important to stretch and prepare your muscels before you do any kind of physical activity. This way, you won't pull any muscles and you won't be as sore the next day;)
