That's not necessary! DP is not your contact manager!

 

Just because we don't see anything happening doesn't necessarily mean nothing is. I'm sure quite a few infractions are issued that we're unaware of. If the member receiving the infraction doesn't announce it, it's likely we'll never know about it.

Keep in mind as well that the discussions are not moderated/monitored and a mod may never see the infraction if it's not reported.

No disrespect rob, but what is a forum for then?. If you call this bumping a thread then you just bumped this one -O). The thread you mention involved me announcing a new directory which, as we all know, wont make anyone rich these days. Its just another service I thought I offer and all it really means to me is manually approving submissions on an hourly basis. In fact all I wanted to do was to show that real people are doing real work and that no automatic approvals were taking place. IE.......sites are checked before they are approved.

Maybe in these days of "autosurf " and "auto pilot" it makes a change to know there are real people involved in dialog with real ppl submitting their sites. If I were sellin a service like directoy submission or the such I woudl agree with you........anyway....who cares.

Forums are for communication (which involves human to human contact) - if thanking people for their support of a directory becomes worth an infraction, I guess I should not be too worried about my infraction (which does not fit the bill of any of the ones described above).

I know the 'infractions' don't count towards reputation (now), but it's still an annoying red block at the bottom of my user CP. I guess if someone posts something annoying and then asks why people don't actually check their links - one should PM instead of replying in public. [lesson learned]

From a reader´s point of view ¨PM sent¨ and ¨Thank you for the approval¨ has absolutely no informative value. That is really what green rep is for.

After reading this post I now have a better understanding of the rules.
I have posted a thank you for free submissions; I will take more care in the future.
As for submitting without posting, if an offer states “DP Members Only” or “Post URL” Will replying get me an infraction?

I was wondering if the mods are taking into account that DP requires that you post to a thread before you do an iTrader.

There are times (now) that I conclude the entire transaction by PM so that I don't get infractions, then the only way we can do the iTrade is if I post something. At that point what more is there to say but "Thanks Good trade" or what ever.

I've been putting reminders to the Mod as to why I am posting the otherwise worthless comment, so that they remember that I have no choice, however the additional note is even of less value and probably irritates the Mods.

Is there another solution?

 

Directory announcements aren't in the BST section so you shouldn't be giving iTrader for it anyway

 

I think that everyone of us should try to be honest with himself: with this I mean "ok,I want my post count up like anyone else here" (and don't tell me that there is someone who doesn't want). But there is a constructive way to do it, writing helpful and constructive posts,because this is a COMMUNITY and we should be "brothers" of a big family. I think that if we are all hanest with us and helpful with others,we are all working for lead DP to a pagerank of 9.

I think it is fair. Quality posts are always more profitable.
