Not sure what you missed there and then not sure what you are trying to get me to say, seems like a baited question but without a reference point. Jesus spoke and I believe what He says. I am assuming you think I threw a stone or that I am getting vengeance or something on those lines, since you asked in such a way. Do you know why He said turn the other cheek? Do you know what was a custom of insult during the time of its writing? If you did you might understand that turning the other cheek does not reference self defense. Jesus told His disciples to carry a sword at one point, but in no way told them to kill or start a fight, it was protection. He also told them that He was sending them like sheep amongst wolves, do you know what wolves do to sheep? You will have to try much harder than that to try to confuse the issues. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light and no one comes to the Father but through Me."
I'm not a Muslim and have numerous Muslim friends who have befriended me. How do you reconcile this with your interpretation on the Koran? Are these bad Muslims?
So what you are saying is that you also believe Judaism to be false because they do not accept Jesus as the messiah. Is that correct? And you don't have to look for baited questions. I am asking direct queries seeking explicit answers. If you are capable of providing them... I'm curious to know specifically which version of the Bible you are referencing. I'm not trying to confuse any issues. You're making judgements on others and their faith. I would like to know if your True Word of God advocates this sort of discourse. If you're going to call Muslims sinners, then I would like to know if you are without sin yourself, or is that not a practice advocated by the True Word of God? These are simple and direct questions.
Jesus had the disciples buy two swords to defend all of them? No. Your interpretation is pretty loose. The accepted explanation is that Jesus instructed the disciples to purchase two swords so that he would be "numbered amongst the transgressors" when he was arrested, as foretold in the Old Testament. One should probably know the True Word before they preach it.
It was an exploratory question meant to determine his particular Christian sect. Regardless, I have addressed his interpretation of biblical events.
Similarly irrelavent. I prefer the KJV, does that make me Mormon? Jesus told his disciples not to defend him. If he wanted defending he'd call down the hosts of heaven. As debunked said, the swords were for their protection. Not his. Despite the fact that the soldiers came for him, he healed the soldier's ear that had been cut off.
You are suggesting now you are not a muslim? OK. This answer is really quite simple. Are they bad muslims to me? No, not at all. In fact, throughout the world this is not uncommon. Are they bad muslims to their peers on Friday at prayers, if they actually attend? More than likely. Friends and acquaintences are entirely different things. How do I reconcile this? Quite simple, really: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=697343&postcount=125 People often use the "all card" around here. They do not have the ability to see things in any less of a denominator. Must "all" people have cancer before it is recognized as a problem? Should "all" have aids before action is taken? Must "all" Christians in Darfur be killed before recognizing there is a problem? All is not as inclusive as some might like to believe.
11 disciples with 2 swords. Uhm, no. It was fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Check your sources.
Did I ever post that I was a Muslim? It's not a suggestion, I have never prayed in a Mosque, my parents were Christian and I have read the Koran as an intellectual exercise. They do actually attend. They observe Ramadan. They pay Zakat. They are upstanding members of their Islamic community. These are not acquiantences. These are friends in the strongest use of the word. What is it with you introducing the "all" argument when I am not using it? I do not care what gets used around here by others. I am debating with you, and in the interest of productive discourse, perhaps we should limit our conversation to what you and I have actually said in this thread to each other. As someone so eloquently waxed, I am a "noob" and you will have a difficult time finding past references by me to bring to this discussion.
You mean as in like "all" the people that do not support your twisted thoughts are either terrorists or want to kill jews, right ?
Good for you! May I offer you a gold star? That may or may not be true. It has no bearing on anything though. This isn't about you as an individual or supposed isolated incidents. Anticipation. You'll get over it. Pointing it out upfront can sometimes help lead those tempted to use it to find other alternative excuses. Stretch your imagination. I generally post what I want when I want. You'll come to understand this, if you actually stick around for more.
No, that would be your "all" card, not mine. Of course, some people do support terrorists and some people vehemently hate Jews, don't they login?
Sorry, I just can't let this one go. Jesus, "Alright, everybody stand behind the two guys with swords when the Romans come".
Well, you don't fit into GTech's world view, so yours must be an isolated experience. No way that real practical experience is going to overcome his misconceptions.
They generally tend to make it quite clear, wouldn't you agree? It's really simple, when you think about it. If one doesn't want to be associated with defending terrorists and their actions, one should stop doing such things. Seems reasonable, wouldn't you think?
Sure. PM me for a mailing address. Ah, I see. Personal, tangible real life experiences don't count when you are Googling for facts and Koranic translations. I can't say this hasn't been fun, but I was expecting to learn something around here. So far, I've disproved the theory that there is no Islamic Golden Rule. I've provided real-life experiences that contradict some of the claims posted in this thread by the most active participants, and I've shown the resident Christian Scholars to be a little short on knowledge. My posts on Surah 60 have gone unanswered, either because folks can't count that high or they are at a loss to explain the Islamic teachings on relations with "unbelievers". And yet at the same time, I feel like I am making friendships that will last a lifetime. *sighs*
