when i request review my blog's ads placement this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=295108, many guys said that they ignored the right sidebar ads.

so i want to do a more widespread survey to approve " right sidebar is a ads blind area " .

i hope everyone come and tell your experience, and the survey result will help you in turn.

If you only have center content and a right side bar for navigation, I find the right sidebar ads aren't completely ignored. But otherwise I don't use them there.

I find that the if you have a main column and two smaller right columns that THEY are largely ignored

In your case, I think TWO of them there may hurt you. It all depends on the page, though. I've done A/B testing that shows the right side had a 10:1 click ratio. I've done other testing where both sides were about split equal. And some where the right side did better. So, like "all-things-adsense" there is no one answer and no one best positioning. All I can say is try some of your own A/B testing and see what works for YOU.

I think you need a third option in your poll:

It depends on the page layout

    Otherwise, I cannot vote.

I added ads to my right sidebar a few days ago, and so far it's more than doubled my CTR, and therefor earnings.

It's a little trickier than their example about running two ads in the same spot, but what you do is have a random number generator in some javascript code. Depending upon the number generated (>= .5 or < .5) you display the ad on the left or the right side. Because of my setup, I had to have quite a bit of the page within the javascript and sought special approval from google to run the test. They had no problem with it.

    Check here:

    to get yourself started.

Again, depends on your particular page :) I don't use it very often, but I DO have one particular format of page that it fits the best on. I use it as the only ad on those types of page and it does a pretty good showing as far as clicks and earnings.

I have gone to exclusively right sidebar ads, with the following results:

    1. Fewer user complaints about ads and more thank you's

    2. Gradually increasing pageviews

    3. More citations on other sites

    4. Lower CTR

The right sidebar ad tells the user that the content of your site is most important. Overall, I have traded quick money for building quality sites that are growing and continue to increase in income.

I don't think people are ad-blind but I do agree that you won't get as many clicks on the right hand side as you get on left hand side.
