Hey guys. Not sure how many of you have used the Bad Neighborhood Link Checker in the past, but it's been down for a couple months now. I hadn't realized how long it had been offline until last week. I did update it, and am looking for some feedback on the new look and feel, especially from anyone who knew what the tool looked like before I had to take it down: http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/ I know there is currently a bug where it won't update a line in the display under certain circumstances, I will look into that shortly. Thanks, and enjoy it. -Michael
What is not working about it please? Freezing? Incorrect reporting? Did it just freeze and not go on? Which URL and which browser were you using? Thanks guys. -Michael
For the guys who it isn't working, what browser are you using? And is Javascript enabled? It is AJAX and has been tested on IE and FF. If other browsers are having problems then I need to know pls. Thanks. -Michael
Ok.. kewl.. kinda... heh! So, I see the problem, and it's not a very very quick fix, but can do it tonight. It has to do with when urls contain other urls, or when they are https. I will have it fixed in a few hours, thanks! -Michael
Ok, fixed that problem. It had to do with passing urls as a parameter, when that url in turn had parameters. It was fine passing them in, but for some reason passing them back through the AJAX, the ampersand was causing truncation, even though I was passing it back through a CDATA element. Fixed either way. Also, added support for HTTPS urls, added in spaces every 60 characters so it wouldn't break the display in FF. Is it still not working for anyone else? Or any other general things you think the tool needs? Thanks. -Michael
Hi mvandemar, The tool is great. I just used it for the first time today. Havent seen the older version, but this is very useful. I found a few bad links on the link directory checked. The tool just showed 40 results. Is there any way by which we can see more?
rosiee, I am adding tools as I go, and need to watch the resources and traffic. If it gets too heavy then I will need to upgrade the server. I am hoping that as the tool gets more popular the site will start making more money, but as it stands right now it's mostly a hobby site. I did think about adding an option for a low monthly subscription, like $5/month, and offering less restrictive tools with that, but am waiting till I get more of my content up first (coming soon, btw ). Kewl, thanks! EDIT: I also just added a custom captcha to the tool, please let me know how that works for you guys. Thanks again. -Michael
