And look how sound is your English! minstrel, I see form your great web sites that your are really smart. You 've spent your entire life in this forum -that's what nonlifers do.
That's not the only problem, tradeya! They [editors] tend to spend most of their time -if not their entire life behaving like ***holes in popular forums Regards
WebmasterA makes some hodpodge tossed together site complete with the default 1st post and stock wordpress about page and submits it to Dmoz. It get rejected immediately due to lack of content on the webmasters part. This makes the Editor an ***hole. ________________ WebmasterB makes a mediocre site about gerbels and submits it to a Finance category. The site is rejected. This makes the editor an ***hole ________________ EditorA logs into a public forum and sees WebmasterA and WebmasterB over generalizing about DMOZ Editors and he speaks up in defense of himself. This makes the Editor an ***hole. It seems that there is never fault with the Webmaster according to most webmasters and all of the blame falls on the Editor. So no wonder we are a bunch of ***holes...we can't get the average webmaster to submit quality sites to the correct categories.
Let's not tar them all with the same brush, now... There are some, perhaps even many good editors. They're not the ones posting at the Resourceless Zone, though. Most of the good ones aren't posting here or at other forums, either - they're editing instead. We're lucky to have a couple of the good ones here at DP.
Ha ha ! Though I'm in the medium capacity in the English Language, please forgive me, its not my native tongue. If it was I will be as GOOD as you. I am your Simple Good Old Home Boy from the Far East. Non Lifers - people who waste time with the LOST CAUSE (epetition).
Really? I frequent several forums, not to mention running my own and modding and or co-administering a few others. In addition to that, I have a full time private practice (not in an internet field), a family, and several other hobbies. Maybe I'm just better organized and/or a faster learner and/or have more energy than you, skillpedia? Or possibly you're just another forum jerk - although I have no way of verifying that.
LOL Minstrel ! "SHE" - might need an online assistance with your practice. In this matter Psychology Mental Health & Self-Help Resources
I think webmaster should want Google to have some pressure or increase the existing pressure (if there is) about the quality of editor processes in DMOZ. I'm sure Google can do this.
popotalk, here is a good web site for you cbbc as I don't have any right to order you to grow up Good boy minstrel, If that makes you happy and cheerful as I can't see from your picture, yes I am a forum jerk. Any extra best shot is welcome
If "Yes" gets a majority of votes, that should NOT be taken as a mandate, given that the numbers of votes in the three remaining options should probably be combined...2 and 3 are definitely the same as "No" votes, and 4 likely is as well.
The poll should really be whether or not you are listed in DMOZ. If not, then you will probably vote against DMOZ, but if you are listed, then you don't wanna lose that advantage. I'm still happy that some of my competition lost the link strength from wikipedia's nofollow tag, but that's only because I wasn't listed on Wikipedia at the time. Same goes for DMOZ, but my main page WILL get listed eventually. PS it's amazing how many made for adsense sites are written in English by definite non English speakers. My grammar is usually horrible, so when I shake my head at a page's English it's really BAD. My favorite page intro from a site that used to compete with one of mine: "I'm being very pleased that you be visiting my page this happy day."
I've never had a problem getting into DMOZ, though I am not in there right now. Apparently I failed to clearly distinguish default affiliate style entries and actual user suggested entries, and I can certainly understand the issue, that it would look like spam and accept that this is a quality issue that I had to correct... and I have. Hopefully I'll be able to get back in there again. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone or their web site, but there are often good reasons for not getting listed in DMOZ. Highly commercial MFA, affiliate and other sites that really are not supplying original content or capabilities really don't have a lot to offer an end user. So, while I'm sure there are a few bad apples in as editors, I'm also sure that we generally hear only the belly aching from webmasters (as described previously above) and not the gripes of the good editors. As someone trying to run a directory I can certainly see both sides of this issue. Anyway, don't get mad at me, but it's true. People aren't generally searching for these types of sites... even if they can make you money when people arrive via SERP listings.
