Any SE tool that tells you where your website ranks for a certain keyword?

There are plenty of google tools that you give the google key, and it give you where your website ranks in the top 1000.

Well what if my website is not in the top 1000? How can I know where it ranks in google?

    What about yahoo and msn?

    Cheers,

You didn't actually read his post...DP keyword tracker only shows top 200 results...he wants something over 1k.

I never track anything beyond a few hundred results...after that it becomes a big mess of google results....

Why would you want to know where it is after the top 1000? It essentially doesn't exist in the search engine at that point, so tracking it's path upward would be really tedious.

Tracking beyond 100 is meaningless. Even for the most popular terms, beyond first few pages you wont get any real traffic. IMO, ranking outside 100 is like not being listed at all.

    Try www.rankingcheck.com (FREE version)

    1. They provide keyword ranking for all 3 engines(Google, Yahoo, MSN)
    2. They track the history of your keyword ranking
    3. They even send free email alerts when your ranking changes.

    Good luck!

who cares? if you ranking on page 2 you are practically non existent the way people search today, let alone past the top 1000....

why do you need this information?

For the people that are asking and wondering "why":

    - Would you not be interested in knowning how a PR6 link improves your rankings and by how much?

    - Would you not like to track your SEO efforts on a keywords in search engines and see how much do you still need and what made good differences?

    - So is this you how you usually do SEO? It is like trying to score a goal blind folded, or at least for more than half of the field.

I think it is very useful to track your SEO efforts on a certain keyword from beginning to end. I think people can list some more benifts. We all agree that we will not get any traffic beyond the 3rd page of google, but that is not the point. The point is to track and see how your SEO efforts are paying off.

DP and rankingcheck.com are like the others and dont show beyond some number of results. No Good

sure we would like to know all that. but the point you are failing to grasp is that beyond 1000 is MEANINGLESS. So if you were able to see your site move from 1,645,967 to 879,098, that would be the same as moving from 1005 to 1002.

You'll know something worked once it gets inside 1000, and even then thats not really saying much.

I also want that tool that don't need to specify the keywords that I want to check.

If you still want to check your rankings above 1000 that is useless no one would check each website up to 1000 rankings.

    No, you are both wrong.

DavidK1: "So if you were able to see your site move from 1,645,967 to 879,098, that would be the same as moving from 1005 to 1002."

They are not the same. That is the whole point. Yes, yes, I know, they are off course the same if you consider the amount of traffic you are going to get from both spots. But they are not the same in any other way.

What I am saying a tool like that although people are saying is useless, can be very usefull because it tells you how your website did for a certain SEO effort. For example from 1,645,967 to 879,098 for let's say 100 directory submissions.

In essence if you venture into the SEO business with such a tool, you should be able to, and after enough experimatation, to say for a certain website that it needs X directory submissions Y article submissions Z forum submissions, and A PR links...

I might be day dreaming, but don't the experts do it like that? I mean do they really keep on submitting and SEO the website until it gets there? What if it takes 10,000 hours?

Janna: That would be an awesome tool, but that is not what I am asking for. And no for what I am asking, it is plenty usefull :D

you don't need to go beyond 100 or 200 search results.i check position manually on 3 search engines till 200.Manual is best as compared to any software.

No, you are the one who is wrong. It will not tell you how much that 100 directory submissions help, because the numbers are MEANINGLESS!

Lets check out a common term, and apply some reason to what we see.

Do a search for baseball bats on this DC http://209.85.129.104/

On my search it shows me 2,900,100 results. Going back as far as I can, I come to a stop at #782. This spot is held by www.dealofday.com/deal/get/37090.htm

It doesn't make it to the 1000, because Google says "In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 782 already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

So now go ahead and view the OMITTED entries. Now go all the way to the end, and see what is in spot #1000. WOW! It's the site that was just #782.

Hmm.. so tell me Fuser, what is that sites REAL number? In the first search, Google CLEARLY stated that they are showing THE MOST RELEVANT results.

So if Google thinks only 782 out of some almost 3 million results, does it really matter if something moved from 1.3 million to 1.5 million?? NO Because it's NOT considered relevant. The fact that a relevant result was pushed out of the way for a unrelevant result makes it pretty clear that anything above 200-300 doesn't mean anything. Therefore it would be FOOLISH to track changes above that range and interpret it as "valid" data that accurately represents your seo strategy.

    DavidK1: Ok mate - point noted :)

Maybe I am asking the wrong question.

Here is another one: How do you track your SEO efforts? Or what is the best way to track your SEO efforts on a certain website and keyword?
