Thats a very open question. Anything can be profitable if used right and of course have good quality traffic. The niche plays a big part too, some pay more than others etc

Of course it's profitable, otherwise nobody would be using it :D
However, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is profitable for YOU, in YOUR particular niches. Nor does it guarantee that adwords wouldn't be better for you.

i think adbrite is perfect for entertainment based websites, based on the ads they display. also their interstitial ads pay very well, if you don't mind annoying your visitors (which i don't, my time is not free)

ive noticed much higher profits from adwords from google. But, they cancelled my account when I had $220 with them, before I even withdrew my first payment. So I lost all of that money and I went with adbrite. I make much less with adbrite, but its better than nothing. You could just try both, try one for a week or month then change. I guess it would really depend on your content. Because adbrite is more pay per click, your visitors need to be click happy. While adsense is more ppm, which is nice for high visitor websites. Good luck!

Over 6 months ago I decided to use adsense knowing that it would take some time to set up and earn anything .... after 6 months work and many adjustments to optimise I was staring to get about 2 dollars a day and my checks arrived on time etc Then one day it finally started to look good 8 dollars in 10 mins ... wow I thought .... Nxt day email from Adsense site suspended ... to risky for their clients.... I appealed and asked for an explanation ... same reply nothing else ... no check for over 200 dollars they owed ... Thought / Adsense has millions of people like me gaining clients for their Adwords clients. If they decided to say the same thing to say 1000 of their affiliates just once a month imagine how much that would result in saved money for them and free advertising with any reason they care to give and no chance of real appeal ... if you use them watchout ... I have since revamped and am now with Adbrite (hope) .. Like to know just how many people have been Googled like that ? Used clicksor aswel after a month of little earnings ... said I had not enough traffic .... more wasted time ... and clicks gained lost. I also noted that on 2 of my sites my google position dropped like a rock when I added clicksor ... good luck all
