I own a site and i have someone helping me build a project. the root interface is Cpanel. what i want is to get someone to login to phpmyadmin with all privlidges to access the database(s) i created. but there is a problem or im doing it wrong

here is the steps i follow.
    I login to cpanel
    I click MySQL® Databases
i scroll down a bit and create a new user/password and add them to the correct database(theres just one) goes smooth. I make sure to give full access with the check box Privileges:ALL

from there im lost. I tried to give the exact link to phpmyadmin and a username and password box does come up. however the only username and password that works is for root user. me...i tried to include the me_username username as well and the password(hope you understood that)

    any help is appriciated

Why you want to add this?
Just give the username and name of the database to the application you want to use it with. and the server give localhost if the database is on the same server.
    hope it help.

The database is on the same server. i think im in over my head here. application?

heh...i guess it doesnt work this way then. i login to what i want with www. urlhere .com /cpanel and access the database via mysql database link in cpanel. scroll down and click the link phpmyadmin to do my thing. which isnt much because this is all new to me.

I want my helper to able to access the database i created and do whatever they please. and upload anything they want via ftp i figured out the ftp thing easy.

there is absolutly nothing on my webpage yet. just a blank database

the only other way i have is to give them the password to cpanel itself. which isnt a huge issue. but if i do that then the 2 of us cannot work at the same time. i hope im clear with what i want to happen because i have no idea what im doing. he does, he just needs access and i dont know how to give it and he doesnt know cpanel at all

    -_-

    Enter the server: localhost
Database username: your cpanel username_db name
    Pass: db pass
Database User: your cpanel username_db user

    I hope it'll work

Ok i think im getting somewhere now. there is a spot in MySQL Account Maintenance that says Access Hosts: then Host (% wildcard is allowed):
I think i has something to do with that. i added % into it. i dont know if that is recommended however for this purpose i put it there.

what i was trying to give him was www. urlhere.com :2082/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php?
sure that gives me a username and password, but its only for cpanel itself

i know what localhost means, but for this situation what do i use. whoever ever figures this out for me gets one of those positive comment things. i forget what they are called. im also giving one to the person i quoted because the information was short and to the point. i will after i get ready for work :p

this is so easy and i still cannot catch on to it >.<. can someone give me an example? i will even set up a temp username and password for someone with limited privlidges and give the url if i have to just to show me whats right in front of my face if that helps. If i still dont get it ill start offering paypal money. lol

EDIT: im thinking i need to use some type of software? instead of punching something into a browser?

You do not need phpmyadmin address/url or anything. If the database is on the SAME server, you can use localhost, no need to modify anything anywhere. Just enter the info I gave ya previously in my post;)

I give up on this crap. i cannot figure it out. i own the domain but i dont have root root access. only access to cpanel. i dont own the server. i tried installing a seperate version of php and it made a mess. i dont have permissions to do that

friend rents server-i get the domain off him. its not a dedicated server either

    dammit

thanks for all the help. everone gets +1 comments when i have time today
I dont even know where to plug in your info at all. this is a crash course in servers/domains/php and mysql so im over my head with everything.

What I think you are trying to do is to give access to phpmyadmin only to a friend of yours correct? Well from what I'm aware thats not possible using cPanel, and you would need to personally add a copy of phpmyadmin to a directory of your domain and setup an account for your friend to access.

If you wanted to do it through cPanel, your friend would have full access to the complete cPanel controls.
