Hey there guys, Sorry if this post seems noobish - i'm young and new to this whole thing. The problem i'm having is that my clicks are worthless + my CTR is awful. I own a proxy site and i've looked around and i've seen other proxy sites making over 10x the amount that i do (with the same amount of impressions). I get barely any clicks and when I do, they're often worthless. E.g. today i got 1 click on my site and $0.04 (248 impressions). I own another site which is about instant messaging translation, from two clicks i'm only on $0.06! My CTR lies under 1% It frustrates me that I don't have a clue what i'm doing wrong or how to fix this/make more money. I hope someone here can help me out - but tbh i'm not sure what more to post or what to do, so any help is appreciated. Once again forgive any possible 'noobishness' in this post Thanks.
Sounds like you need to work on your ad placement. http://www.problogger.net/archives/2005/03/02/positioning-your-adsense-ads/
First is ad placement and traffic. The next thing is to block or filter low paying sites. The last thing is to use tags to make adsense show the best paying ads for your terms. No matter what if your site has low paying keywords you will always have low paying ads. Getting traffic is first and click rate is second thing you have to do. Then do keyword and then filter ads.
Yep, you need to work on your ad placement and make them look more like part of your site, rather then advertisments.
ok thanks for the quick reply. i have traffic - approx 1000 impressions a day (something like 400/500 visitors) the rest of it is what i have to do...
someone told me about ad placements, so on another site, i did some changes (infact i've just finished this about 15mins ago) checkout: banmenot.com is this a lil better? or a lot better? any other advice? thanks
Yes, the placement seems to be the problem. I have pmd you one of my proxies so you can get an idea. Yes it is better, but check the one I pmd you
How much of a difference does making the ads blend in more make? I wouldn't have thought that changing some colours would make a huge difference... Can anyone explain how exactly it increases CTR? Thanks.
It depends on the site. It can get a lot less or a lot more. You just have to experiment and see what works best really...sometimes color change makes a diference other times it has no effect.
Many consumers [surfers] won't knowingly click on an ad if they identify it as an ad. Blending your ad backgrounds to match your site, and trying various ad placements is crucial to the success or failure of your program. Each site is individual so what works for one, doesn't always work for another.
