Hi guys, I'm just wondering what's .info domains and why are they cheap compared to .net / .org etc..

Can .info websites be displayed in SE as much as .com and others?

    cheers.

Well, it is probably because although the .info has been available for quite a long time, the take up rate has been quite disappointing. What they are doing now is to offer the 1st year registration at rock bottom prices so that it would encourage people to sign up for them. This probably means that they are selling them at losses. This in the hope that a number of them would be renewed for the second year onwards at the regular pricing so that they could recoup the cost.

Yes, the .info websites can be displayed on Search Engine. Search Engine does not care if it is a .com or .net or even .info .

yeah, no one was buying them so they decided to offer them at a cheaper price to get more people who would potentially renew their subscriptions in the future.

nah, the real story behind it is that the spammers needed some cheap domains to buy in bulk, so ICANN lowered the prices.

It's only cheaper for the 1st year.

I've seen .info on the 1st page of Google, so doesn't make a difference.
