    Hi all...

Had a quick question that I was not sure of.

Do search engines weight .info differently than .com? In other words, will a .info site have a more difficult time ranker higher due to not being a .com?

    Thanks in advance!

Depends on how you promote the website based on a domain name.
The extension is what would could the least at a domain name, keyword wise.

Doesn't matter. I've seen .info & .us on the 1st page of Google.

The idea is still to go for .COM, though.

Exactly, .com is much more recognized and accepted.

.coms are better if it is a domain name that will be promoted via word of mouth. If it's a general site that will just be promoted by search engine results it doesn't matter. The two extensions are looked at the same, it's just easier to promote a .com because people automatically assume that a domain is a .com.

All that being said, I would still always go for the .com, even if a better keyword domain were available as a .net, .org, etc.

Most people tend to type a domain name + com, but that does not mean that you cannot develop a popular INFO domain or any other extension, as in example del.icio.US, which is a ccTLD+subdomain
