I have recently acquired a domain name. However after 5 days I noticed there's no traffic at all.

How do I allow other people to register it? Is there a way to actually let it go?

I have seen this happening to other domains.

If you registered the domain with Godaddy there is actually an option allowing you to "Cancel" the domain name. If that is unavailable with your current registrar, I would just make sure automatic renewal is turned off, then I'll simply forget about the domain name. I would still check if your registrar allows domain cancellations as it seems to me this should be available to all.

Well, 5 days is too short a period of time to get traffic for a new site or a new domain name. Remember that you are competing with the tens or hundreds of millions other website out there. If no one knows you exists, they will not be able to visit you. It can take several weeks or months if you put out the word that your website exist before you will see the traffic.

The build and people will come does not work on the internet.

If you already registered the domain name, you cannot get someone else to register it. Of course you can sell it and Digital Point as a For Sale section where domain names are being bought and sold. All you need to do is to do a 'push' of the domain name to the one who bought the domain name. Always remember to mention which domain registrar you use.

Who have you registered the domain with?
Knowing who the registrar is might help or we'd have to be guessing if the domain cancellation option is available for you.

Why don't you offer it to someone else here on DP for free if you've got no use for it rather than cancelling it? I'm sure you'll get green rep or itrader from the person that benefits.

Well, like I said, if you do not need the domain name more, you can either :-

    1) Let it expire
    2) Give the domain name to someone
    3) Sell the domain name to someone

I hope this were your biggest concern really.
There are other things to worry about other than not knowing what to do with a domain name you do not need :)

Time to concentrate on serious stuff.
