Thanks a lot for kicking things off for me, Saad! Anyone else, there is still space www.frogengine.net
Another one for the list, is this the highest PR bid for position directory? www.relerank.net Cheers, Steve
May be it's just me, but I think this link bidding trend seems to pass its "prime" time. I see a bunch of exact same sites.
If any of you guys are interested in letting me advertise on your bid for position directories, i.e. 468x60 + text link under the navigation, send me a PM with a monthly price for it. Ex: http://www.alluredirectory.com Thanks.
why not just bid yourself onto the frontpage of them it would be unfair on paying webmasters if you got a link on the homepage for less then they have
Its advertising more than pure backlink buying, I dont see a problem with that as a paypal monthly subscription.
Lets not be too hasty there choice ... a bid position is a permanent listing ... an ad is a monthly payment. I don't think they are mutually exclusive. What is the difference? I have been thinking of a variable ad rate based on the highest bid. You could base it on 10-15% of the bid, which would be fair. In effect charge a yearly rate that is a little higher than the existing high bid. Gotta be better paying than Adwords.
I would be more careful when it comes to adding your own site onto the homepage since people do pay to get a position, not just a BL.
Who says I wasn't going to do that? I personally like visual ads to advertise. Just my way of doing things..
Yeah that is true ... just another way for the unethical webmasters to circumvent the bidding process. Why use a fake bid if you can post your own banner or ad. Gotta re-think the ad thing ... may not appear legit after all. You guys are right ... no bid no placement.
haha. Well, we'll see in a few more weeks who starts selling sitewide text links on their bid directories and turns down a good monthly subscription for a banner ad. There is nothing unethical about a monthly banner ad. It's advertising, not bidding for links, etc. If i wanted strictly links, I wouldn't have asked. Anyways, I'll probably bid my site up there so I can get the best of both worlds.
I guess a lot depends on the type of directory as well ... The category directories are not as specialized, and there is no expectation that your listing is exclusive. Nobody would care if I removed adwords and added a banner. With the alphabetic directories the top listings have bid for exclusive links on the home page ... that is all they have! It will be a really tough sell if there are more ads then listings. You are right ... when the bidding slows down there will be some desperation to sell ads. The question is ... will that affect the bids?
In my opinion, ads are separate from the listings and should be acceptable within reason. With that being said, the number of ads should definitely be limited. No one wants to bid on a site that has 20 ads.
Like most things, there is little harm with it, in moderation. Bid for position directories category at this directory: http://www.webnweb.info/directories/ Steve
