    I'm 14, I think I've seen a 13 year old on the boards before. Are under 13's even allowed on the board? (COPPA)

    Because lol stands for "laugh out loud" it's used if the sentence is meant to be funny.

    I'm only 8...but unfortunately for me that's just the number of "Real" birthdays I've had (born on 2/29)...please don't do the math and ascertain my actual age!!

    Because they're kids - mainly teenagers. Everyone knows teenagers have trouble expressing themselves without stupid abbreviations and 'text' speak. I blame the schools myself!

    It's true that all they can do is "'text' speak". But it isnt the schools that give the computers and cell phones.............

    My daughter who is 18 needed correcting. I have always told her if she does any ecommerce to drop the AOL speak. It is fine for certain situations but not when it comes down to e business. Etiquette. All in the way one says please, thank you, and conducts business.
