How do I get traffic to my site without spending a fortune?

The title says it all.

I'm trying to learn how to get traffic to my site without spending a fortune. I'm reading and reading but I think I'm just getting snow blind by reading lots of phrases that I (as a new girl!) dont understand.

I'm reading Adwords & Adsense etc etc etc but if I'm honest I dont really know what they mean?

Can someone please explain to me in 'Dummie' format please?

Content is king, or in your case queen.

Post good articles directly on your site and it will inspire links to be formed and will help your site in both Page Rank and Search Engine Rank Position.

Use only ORIGINAL content, and if you cross post any articles from your site to article sites (see above) then be sure to re-word them enough to not been seen as duplicates.

You should also find related sites and ask them for link exchanges, or heh, PM the owners of the related sites and ask if it's OK to link to them (without mentioning them linking to you). This will show them that their site has interest (so they will likely say YES) and it will point out your site to other webmasters who may link back to you in turn.

every website is different and without specific info people can only give you general marketing tips - me - i use offline advertising - which for my site is highly effective

You need some basic SEO tips. You need a better page title on the "home" page as "home" is not descriptive enough. Your meta keywords are also a bit wanting. IU can not be of much help with that, heh, I've had issues on my own pages.

You have two links going to paydotcom which I did not click into. If what you are linking to is articles, you may wish to put them into your own words and host them on your page. This will help you get organic search hits from Google, Yahoo, etc.

There is another way to get traffic, less targeted but it's traffic nonetheless. Try to use traffic exchanges like trafficswarm.com and trafficpods.com

 

Depending on your website, the best way to get traffic to your site without spending a fortune is to simply write good content that people enjoy reading. If they like it, word usually spreads.

 

Submit to free directories and get backlinks and hopefully traffic.

much of your text is italicized, making it a bit difficult to read. I would remove any <i> or <em> tags from your main text.

Spend many hors reading learning and working on site
SEO (that's the best option)

 

If you want instant traffic then you have to spend money on advertising.

If you do not want to spend money on advertising, then you must spend many hours learning SEO practices and then many more hours putting those practices to good use.

Other than paid advertising, there are no shortcuts that are worthwhile. Do not let anybody here talk you into wasting a second of your time on traffic exchange sites. Sure, you might get "traffic", but nobody is really looking.

My 2 cents here is QUALITY not QUANTITY. I will take 1000 Targeted uniques a day as opposed to 20,000 random un-targeted uniques any day!

Now if you can generate a high volume of high quality... you are doing great!
