I for one welcome our new page blocking and ad target disabling overlords... It seems that Yahoo has been doing a lot of this lately as I've talked with other publishers: Block ads on a per-page basis Disable Ad Targetting They'll be losing a lot of money, and they're not helping their situation, the targetting has gotten even worse with the last "update". What are you guys' thoughts on all this? Everything else they have done you could get resolved, but as far as me I never got an email for the "ad blocking on certain pages", the way to get around this is by redirecting your main page to a different one like /something/ instead since they just block the main doman (as far as I've seen). So, yeah I never got a message at all from them about it, nor how to solve it in a fair manner.
I have seen no evidence of blocking ads on a per-page basis. I have seen ads disappear on one page, only to show up several hours later.
I have one site where the ads come and go. It's very odd. All the other sites the ads appear as always. This is a recent occurence.
Don't get me wrong , it's still slimy (even tho its in the TOS) to block people for reasons unknown without showing them any of the "conversion" data, but they have come a long way from the days of blind bans.
That doesn't seem to be a difference to me since they blocked 4 of my sites and won't let me dispute it and I make no money they seem to be the same.
If publsihers are breaking the TOS by targeting unrelated categories then they should get their sites/pages blocked. YPN doesn't need to nor should they show conversion data lol. I mean that would be shocking if they did. As far as blocking goes yes they do block by specific page. I had one of my sites which had specific pages blocked but not the whole site. I think you would be digging your own grave if you circumvented their blocking by creating new pages with the same content.
I don't think either Google or Yahoo terminates people for no reason. There a many, many reasons to be terminated because they make the rules and you, as publishers, agree to abide by them in order to use their program. These programs are created to make them and us money, and it is not in their best interest to terminate publishers for no reason.
i agree with you in general. however, when i started using ypn i had abandoned all my adsense except for 1 site which received about 1 - 2 clicks per day. not even worth transferring over. i got an email from google saying they terminated my account for click fraud. on 2 clicks per day? of course, they didnt pay me. i hadnt even gone to that site in months and i never click my own ads. ever since then i have been Anti-Google. its not the 10 dollars they owe me. its the principle of the matter. no response to my inquiry. "see you wouldnt want to be you" attitude. too much monopolistic power in the hands of any 1 person / corporate entity is not good. and, these programs are not designed to make us money. they are designed to make the advertisers money and more importantly, the network that supplies the ads money. publishers are merely a 3rd party bottom feeder traffic supplier easily replaced and willing to work for the table scraps that are thrown on the floor. it is our choice however whether we sit on command or answer to a whistle. jmo
thats very similar to what happened to me....I had been a google user for months, and switched to YPN...I left google on two of my sites that were doing ok...made 94$ in about three weeks off those two sites, then I get an email from google...banned for click fraud...interesting that I was so close to the 100$ mark, and yet I never saw a dime. They say that they refund the money to the advertisers, but I would love to see if they actually do.
Sorry to hear that about Google. Have you made attempts to dispute their claims? I heard many people have success with getting reinstated by offering all server data to Google for investigation.
