Hy, I know about Sequrity level of windows vista. Unix system provide a better Sequrity or windows vista Which OS is more reliable in Sequrity criteria.
Definitely *nix. Vista's security model is much improved over XP, but still falls behind all Unix variations.
i can agree on that, but to support that i will need a computer 4 times as fast as this one!! people are discussing on the security, i heard that norton is given free with vista!
first of all norton is crap. i have vista on two of my computers already and i can assure you that i am not protected whatsoever.
How does vista function with frontpage? I played with it for about 5 moments at my father in laws and could not get the microsoft photo re-sizer to function and decided I should wait for a few more months....
Vista is slow, even if you have decent specs. Crappy stuff. Microsoft's managed to take everything good about Mac OS X and add the blue screen of death, 114,000 viruses, and daily crashes after half a year. They themselves have stated that Vista is not ready for consumer use. And it's overpriced, goodness. I got my mac mini new for $440 and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Vista Ultimate fails in comparison to Tiger. Just wait for Leopard. Sorry for the rant, I was a Windows user for my whole life and I finally switched to Mac and lemme tell ya, it is awesome; fast, 100% reliable, and I don't even have a good mac. I have a bottom of the food chain mac. Runs great. And if you need your pc games, keep a windows partition with parallels. Easy.
i heard, adobe isnt actualized for this version and another important programs too...but Mr. Gates decided to released it anyway...
I noticed it was pretty clean to use but I with xp I can right click a bunch of photo's at once and downsize them for emails etc... I use this function alot in xp but I could not get the software to work with vista...
Vista definitely improves on security with UAC (User Account Control), but it is kind of annoying. I have Vista and I don't see any Norton products (god help me if there are) on my system. Linux is probably still more secure but I would go with Windows. Vista has a streamlined interface that you'll love. I can't believe I just said a Microsoft operating system has a good interface, but the new tabbish style instead of menus works.
just looking for nice desktop ? SAVE YOUR MONEY! Try Beryl Project, check this out hxxp://www.beryl-project.org/features.php
security is not to good on vista! and norton can't protect you always, but then norton is protecting me pretty well on my xp! but then it deletes the viruses rather than quarantining and reparing them! interface is nice, longhorn was all about the interface so it is pretty obvious! if you are on a firewall, somethink like Pix etc, you can say you are protected, else no security can be safe!
Interface is good. But there are a lot of software compatibility issues with windows vista. I installed it recently on my MacBook. I installed nearly 10 general applications on the OS and out of those 10, almost 5 didnt work. Those applications are not yet compatible with windows vista or maybe the other way around. Anyhow, its not advisable to install Vista at this stage. Give it atleast 6 months.
Yeah Norton is complete crap. DO NOT GET IT. It doesnt do crap, and requires you to update it every day. As for Vista, I would go with nix*.
its powerful if your have powerful specs. like 4 gb ram, a gforce 8800gts video card. a quadcore cpu. vista would totally be awesome.
as for now, I would go with anything other than windows until vista at least has sp1 released....the only upside to vista for now (as I see it) is that lots of people don't have 64 based machines, and also have not written 64 based viruses....but give it 6 months, and we will all see what people can do.
If you are on a 64 bit system, there are less compatible applications. I found a list somewhere a while ago with Vista-compatible applications and a lot were 32-bit only.
