For me this is a great results came from yesterday and conside only 2 goals. We were successfully got an important away goal. Manchester united lost Paul Schooles in less than 20 minitues and Manu played with 10 men.

We saw that Manchester united Midfiled and defence totally open after this and give more space to Roma. They shoot everywhere but we are lucky.

I think Sir Alex came here with attcking mide and he did it in whole match. Even lost of Midefilder he playe with 4-3-2 and more important he bring Saha in last 10 minitues.

I think they should played 4-4-1 formation to make more stronger format which control Roma's player on half line.

I think Schooles suspension make big problems in Mancheste united team when we will play next leg on 10th April at Old trafford . This is not easy game for Roma because they have to face more than 75000 Manufan.

I think Alan Smith would be best for Paul Schools ahead of Daren Fletcher. I would to see Evera and Saha in starting line up. We have to wait for Portsmouth game for both players performance.

We need just 1-0 win over Roma for securing place in Semi. In this season only two team mange to take point from Manchetse united at Old trafford. Arsenal won here 1-0 and Chelsea drew 1-1. So we have good chance and don't be sad because this is good results for us.

Otherside Chelsea is stunned by 1-1 drew at home.

I agree that we are lucky that we just gave only two goals but I think we played better game because we played with 10 man, away from home and also miss some important players in teams. But we show more better game when Roma will come Old trafford for second leg.

I am sure you are very happy at the moments as the Roma fan but I am sure last smile come for us. It is not easy to stop Manchetser United at Old trafford when 75000+ people supports Manchetser United.

I am hoping another good game before we meet Bayern Munich in semi final. :D

Disagree that man u played badly. Looked very dangerous when we could attack, and bare in mind that we were playing with 10 men for an hour of the match, 1 of the players being one of our most influential attacking-minded players. We still managed to get an away goal as well.

It's a shame to see how the police handled the man utd fans though.

Very good result for United that, definately. The away goal was vital and what a goal it was!

Roma played well and looked more dangerous than we did but you'd expect that as they were the home team after all. We played well though considering we only had 10 men for most of the game.

Just a shame about the trouble with Italian police and fans..... again.

I don't see how anyone can call last night a "good result" - lets face facts, it was a defeat - their is no victory in defeat. Sure, we got an away goal, and the defeat wasn't as bad as it could have been - but it was a defeat nonetheless.

A good result would have been a win, away goal (s) plus an actual victory so we're not chasing the game; and we cannot be too complacent in the fact we're put in a strong domestic league campaign this season - when we're playing European football its a whole different kettle of fish.

And yeah, the police were disgraceful - an unsettling reminder of what happened in Porto

Well I agree that defeat is defeat but we reduce the damaged under bad condition and 10 men. We also get important away goal.

Let wait for Tuseday when we done all job.

Scholesy was in the mood for some crunching tackles. He gave away a couple of dangerous FK's which Chivu and Totti wasted.

Roma won't come that hard at United at OT as they did at the Olimpico- and that away goal is a big, big bonus. Mexes looks a bit shaky- Panucci, Cassetti and Chivu don't look like the greatest defenders on earth. It is a question of attacking them and keeping them under pressure.

Yes and we did it but we only miss one more players in center. I am sure at OT we will attck on Roma and creat lots of chance to make bigger win for us. I am sure Saha will be back in team and start a match. If he will play in that match Rooney is proved anothe Midfilder for us because most of time he play in supporting role.

We saw only 3 pass game give is an important goal. Ronaldo was excellent and Roma who spoke that he is driver than what Totti did when Schooles off. Referee give Yellow card so late.

I am sure playing at OT is very difficult and I hope good referee make good game.( Must be Manchetser United supporter. :D :D)

A win would have been a great result ;)

A 2-1 defeat though in the away leg is a good result and puts us in a decent position. The fact is Roma are a very, very good team and I was actually very suprised how under-rated they are. To go away to a team like that isn't easy at all so to get the away goal and only get beat by 1 is a good result because now it means all we have to do is win 1-0 at home and thats a highly possible outcome. Sure it would be nice to have been able to rap it up in the first leg but we can't expect to be able to beat everyone, especially because as you say in Europe we have been less than impressive.

We are in a much better position after our game than Chelsea are in after their result with Valencia :)

Back to the Premiership tonight away to Portsmouth who are on dreadful run of form

    Expect United to win comfortably
United could run riot as they run down the channels to slice open the suspect Portsmouth back four
Should be great to watch, as Portsmouth cannot afford to sit deep, they will have to come out to try and attack the United goal
Style of play suited to enable the skills of Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Scholes et al to shred the Portsmouth defence

Looking forward to a great game to watch

Well today most important fixtures for EPL cowen and Manchester united dream because Chelsea will play agianst Spurs who won agianst them. So it could be great for us if Chelase drop 2 or 3 points from this match.

I am sure we would win the match and make sure 6 points minimum lead over Chelsea. But we have to play good because we have important match on Tuesday.

This 4 four days could change Manchester united fortune and take us to more closed to two big title.

    Best of luck boys.

After todays dire result, everything rests on the Roma game... win, and our Champions League dreams are still alive and we go back to our premiership campaign on a winning note... lose, and we crash out of the CL and approach the closing of the season on a 3 game losing streak.

A rare defeat, but I see that Taylor is on the scoresheet.
You guys are still leading by 3 points, but another defeat and things could be different. Much as I'd like Liverpool to win, I don't see them doing that, and I hope you guys can keep up your lead.

I think Rio should petition for that to be classed as Van Der Sar's own goal since it was him who completely botched things up, for both goals, as well as the Roma goal on Wed

Yeah it was a disaster but if you look back over the years Ferdinand when he is playing in a back 4 where there is no one to shout and tell him what to do (Neville, Vidic out injured) he always looks suspect to me as his concentration levels are so lax

Playing alongside Brown and O'Shea does not help because as hard as they try they are not worldclass, injuries to Neville Vidic and Evra have come at a bad time but we have to get along with it and play our way out of back to back defeats

Ironic to see in today's other results where the Gunners totally outplayed WHU yet came out of the game losing, United and Arsenal had a bad day it happens:eek:

Rio is generally a good defensive 'commander' - the main problem with him playing today, in that lineup, is that they are all primarily 'zonal' defenders - they cover an area, not a man, and don't generally attack the ball like Neville and Vidic do.

I'd say the biggest problem, however, is Van Der Sar. Don't get me wrong, he is an astounding keeper, despite his recent mistakes - but he's not a vocal, authorative keeper - like Schmeichel, or even like James.

Rio Ferdinand's goal could snap title chance from Manchetser united. We played wrost in this match and I don't understand why Alex came with Fletcher and Richardson. Both are useless players and they prived it yeterday. Richardson big mistake give pompy 1-0 lead ahead of first half.

Mancester United started well in second half but not converted any efforts into goal. But after 70 min Manu lost the hope because they does not open good space and passes.

Rio's own goal confirmed our lost but it is also creat problems for Manchester United's title hope.

This week is very important for Manchetser united because Manchester united have to play two matches and have to win those matces if Manchetser united want to win 3 major cup. If they lost both matches than may also out of title races.

I am sure Manchetser united stuck back and won both matches.

Only positive things came out from yesterday match was Alen Smith. He played 10 or so min and had a 2 shot on target. Second shot is defently more closer to goal but James did excellent save in the end.

So I would happy if Manchetser united give him a place in next matches.

Yes I shudder when we have a starting line up with Fletcher & Richardson who are good players, but not good enough to play in the top tier

They get found out at the highest level

Alan Smith will for sure play more in the coming matches, if he is fully fit, will be great addition to the squad, and looks as though a bit of form might be coming together in his game

Big week coming up and we just have to forget about the last 2 results and get back to winning matches
