How much is to much when it come to owning domain names? I have seen people owe like hundreds. How do you advertise for that many dn? How do you maintain that many?

I think you should own as many as required for your activities. :)

2 is too much if you can't make a profit on them; 10,000 is not enough if you can continue to make a profit.

This is true. I just find it interesting when I see people buy domains and just park them.

If you can make a profit, there is no limit to how many you own

Yes, if they are good names with reselling value there's no limit. Likewise, if you run a network of 200 websites, you'll probably need around 200 domains! It really depends on different people's circumstances.

I have 18 domains, if you can make money from them that at least covers the reg fees that's fine. Just don't go buying hundreds of them and let them sit.

Too much is when you don't make enough money to cover registration fees.

If you spend a week building and promoting a site to the point that it is on autopilot making five bucks a day, then why not build a new one every week? With this system, why would any number be too many?

Yeah but the problem, however, is maintain them. I use domain parking, that pays for the renewal of a hundreds.

Register with domain parking services like Sedo and add your domains to your account.
Follow the necessary steps required for domain parking, usually a DNS change or domain forwarding setting. That's it.

i have tried sedo but all I earned was 6 cents for a month. If they kick me out for violating there TOS it does not matter I was not making any money with them.

I've just added about 20 of my domains to Sedo. I've not promoted them and most aren't even in the search engines but I'm making money from clicks already, which is encouraging.

I had the same opinion until I decided to try something new. So I developed some niche websites, and realised that Adsense outbid Sedo. Plus, domains started aging since switching away from Sedo. That's something for you to consider..

How do you know that your domains have started aging?
