Why would you want to do that anyway? You can just leave your account alone and nothing will happen to it.

Accounts Can not be deleted On Dp Forum.

Just simply log out and never come back, or

    Stay and enjoy !

Perhaps he dislikes the name and wishes to make a new account in order to have the desired name while not blowing up the forum's database.

Troll? Perish the thought - I have never been a troll. I'm usually the admin of a forum actively de-balling the trolls. I just take the perspective that if I didn't want to get banned and or infractioned to death because I disliked my name I wouldn't go off and make a new one and break the rules - I would try to have the old one deleted.

you'll find very few forums will delete accounts, for the following reasons:
#1 means no-one can re-register the user name. also means people cant be mistaken for someone they are not. i.e. someone not knowing you have left, that you made friends with, starts disclosing personal information of you both, to the person that takes your user name later.

#2 you cant expect a webmaster to delete people because they no longer wish to use the site. you joined it to use, and now you can just never come back, that simple.

#3 if it was a p0rn site and you joined it, you still wouldn't be deleted for fear of your wife finding out. you joined, take the responsibility of your own actions and stop making extra work for the webmaster.

#4 if you have committed an illegal act, and want all trace of any contact info removed, do you think a webmaster would be acting in a responsible manor in aiding and abetting your crimes, by removing your details so a court cannot get you if the person you committed the crime against, has made a police complaint?

now say bye bye and just never come back.

So you're basically telling whomever that was to go away.

I will address each interesting point you make individually.

In Reply To Point Number One:
Well - perhaps an alternative would be an account deactivation? Basically making it a locked and un-usable account - thus negating the need for deletion. As far as I know user names themselves can be banned - so this negates your point here should a deletion be allowed - or for the account just being locked.

In Reply To Point Number Two:
Where does he state he no longer wishes to use the forum? He does not - therefore this cannot be assumed.

In Reply To Point Number Three
This has no baring on the issue since this is not a porn site. It is a hypothetical situation you submit with the value of being on a different site, but since this website is in question - I see no reason for this to have credence here on this forum.

In Reply To Point Number Four
In that instance the argument is valid and I submit that the account should not be deleted - however locking the account would be acceptable still since a locked account still stores all the information involved.

In closing I submit that making assumptions based on what someone requests without details would be in error, and thus should not be made. I simply post these counter points in order to attempt some kind of understanding that the request to delete ones account not be entirely out of malicious intent nor because they wish to leave the site - but rather because they may actually be reading the forums and know about the name changing issues which take a large chunk of time due to so many SQL queries.

Let us not assume based on lack of data, but speculate based on motivations.
