I always get a kick out of it when me, the buyer, is requested from person X, the seller to give iTrader first. I mean damn, I am the one that spent the money, and you want me to first give iTrader? (just now a person said, "I will give you iTrader if you give it to me first, JFC, I paid you money, it should be the other way around don't you think?) Lets make it crystal clear, the customer giving money deserves more attention than the seller in any case. This is a basic tenant of business principals, am I right? Just want to vent because I get this all the time from people that I just gave my money too. You iTrade me first. Thanks
Do you ( buyer ) consider yourself more superior than seller ? Is he not giving something to you..? If yes, than both have equal value - and anyone can take the initiative.
I was always taught that in business the customer is in fact superior. Otherwise, they will just find another place to spend their money. No, I don't think I am superior. But I think asking for iTrader first as a seller is the wrong way to go. Like you are doing a favor. It's just my opinion that the seller should offer up the itrader once they receive the payment. This is baffling that you think otherwise. Have you ever been to a restaurant and been asked to say "Thank You for the great service. When may I have the gracious opportunity to give you my money again?" by an employee? (I know I am not articulating my point well enough in this weary hour of the day, but I hope someone will come to my defense and say better what I am trying to say).
This was such a dumb thread. If you're going to try to change the way the feedback system works, you should target eBay first, rather than this site. A lot of sellers request positive iTrader before he/she give the buyer positive iTrader, simply because the seller is the person that has the product in the first place to recieve iTrader from. Obviously if they request it first, they're making sure that you're satisified with the product/service, and ensuring themselves that you're not going to give a negative for no reason. Money is one thing to a seller, but overall reputation is more important, especially in business.
Judging by your harsh tone, I think you must be bitter about one of my previous threads. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=287348 No worries. Have a nice day.
thats a nice point.. But if the seller needs to give itrader first, then why not the vbulletin script would have been made in such a way that seller is forced to give itrader first ? Ofcourse not.
I don't know the why and wherefores about the vb script, I was taking a more pragmatic approach. In particular, I was thinking that iTrader didn't have the assumption that "I am satisfied with the seller's product." I do see your point though.
The vb script was just an example... I myself has 106 itrader - And i do both buying and selling.. Even if I sell, there are many buyers who give me itrader and tells me repeatedly to pass back the itrader if I forget somehow.. Itrader helps both - if you have a good itrader, sellers will be willing to take your job or will sell you something first ( even they will do your work without previous/advance payment ) If a buyer wants to get 1000$ word done (but zero itrader) then he would hardly get a seller to take the job ( without upfront payment or something else)
I usually do not care if someone gives me trader rating or not, after a deal i always give trader ratings. Its like what came first the chicken or the egg sort of question. 1 or 2 or 3 + trader rating is no different than having 20+ trader ratings. And trader ratings do not tell much about things, cause the buyer can issue a chargeback for anyreason , which never gets reflected in trader rating. For example look at this ladies trader rating http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=76 You think she is not good(will not do good deal or business) just cause she got no trader rating? So, give trader ratings without expecting any from the other side. But if you are giving trader rating just cause u expect same in return, than thats not the way to do business.
A bit I am, only because I was the original who did this and a lot of members actually copied my signature and placed it in theirs. I've had mine for over a year...people see mine and copy it. I created mine ideally so that people can see my peeing in a bottle thread, because I think that is the most reputable thread I have created here [yet].
I think the i-trader is a good way for buyers to tell their sellers that it was a job well done. Kind of like an extra thank you. Feedback on eBay works in this same way. Most buyers have to leave feedback first before getting the benefit of having one back. At least this has been my experience with it. And as a rule, I give i-traders to people who pay me when they say they will, because normally , I don't take payment for any web content I write until the buyer is satisfied. It's just a race to see who is gonna give it first in my case, sometimes the buyer beats me to it, and that's great. That lets me know that they are willing to work the system to benefit us both. There's my 2 cents, since you asked. Mary
I presume the buyer should submit to indicate if they are happy or not with the product or service, at the end of the day if the seller has been paid there isn't much else they can complain about. Realistically as soon as payment is made and details sent the seller could submit there Trader rating as there is nothing else they can judge on. On the buyers side they have to take into account alot of things before submiting to say the product service was as described or satisfactory. I find sellers that request the buyer to submit first are scared they are going to get neg and want to make sure so they can (quite childishly) submit neg back regardless of how smooth the buyers side went. If a seller is worried of this fact they can't have that much faith in thier own product/service. Just my opinion, either way I don't care if I deal I submit either way first or second. really doesn't matter to me
