Hi, I wanted to start a new niche site and I have tried searching some domain names. I found two premium names in my niche like: keyword.US and keywordS.co.uk Please note that, in the .co.uk tld, the keyword is in plural form. Please give your opinion on which one I should go for in terms of SEO and also in terms of domain trends. Thanks
i think the co.uk tld is more established and I would choose this if you are target not (only) us-visitors. I don't know what the further trend of .us tld is but right now I would prefer co.uk
It depends what the keyword is. If keyword is more meaningful with singular than plural than .us domain is fine. Otherwise .co.uk
Thanks ryu and hils for the suggestion No, I will be targeting both US and UK visitors mainly. Also the keyword doesn't lose much meaning with the plural. The only thing is that the non plural keyword has some about 69000 overture while the plural has some about 40000. I think I better stick to the .co.uk as it is more established. Thanks for the suggestions
I'd also go for the .co.uk since it's a more solid base to start development on. Then I'd probably just be redirecting .us traffic to it until I decide to do something with that domain name.
Thanks for the suggestion clive. But one thing I am not very clear here is that is it bad to create site which expect international audience with a .us ltd? like I recently registered a domain for a great keyword which was available only in .us tld. Will it be of any disadvantage if I want to target the international audience and not only US visitors
I think you might create some confusing with a .US domain name, as people generally see them as targeting the US market mainly. Well, the situation isn't much different with the .CO.UK option, however because of the "co" bit which brings it closer to the .COM (visually), that's what I'd use if I had just these two to pick from.
