Haven't tried vista yet, the only thing that is convincing me to upgrade is, as more bugs for windows xp are released - will microsoft be so quick to patch them or will they concentrate on vista more?

Would be nice if they didn't stop supporting their XP series since they cost us money,
don't you think that's normal for a company like Microsoft to care about their customers?

I am really sorry to hear that. Why do you hate both XP and Vista? We are certainly not FORCED to use XP or vista. In my knowledge, XP is far more good O/S compared to what we had earlier. I also hate to comment that "XP is not good while playing games". Infact, Computers are not a playing machine. we can substitute with other forms of video games..Arent we?

Vista does not support alot of hardware, has too many bugs, DRM etc. I can't play half of my mp3's, it wants to report back to Mr. Gates all of the of the Indonesian Porn sites I go to, and it gives family pets seizures. What's to like again?

XP was good only because Windows ME was such a steaming pile of poo. My honest opinion is that Ubuntu Linux is by far the best OS on the market, and being that it is free - well you can't beat that!

Yes, I run Ubuntu (dapper) on one of my desktops and one of my laptops. I run XP on the others. Ubuntu is better in everyway except for games. If you play alot of PC games on a machine use XP. If not, Ubuntu is unrivaled by anything else. You don't need Antivirus. You don't need Spyware removal. You don't get trojans, worms, viruses etc. All of the software you could ever want is free. OpenOffice (same as MS office) is free - not $800.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people still use Microsoft products.

I think Vista is definitely better, a new product can not be released that has worse features then the older one. Thats my point of view.

The only suggestion would be to wait at least a year until upgrading, that is when all the bugs will be worked out and Vista should run smoothly. Hey, I noticed just as Windows XP started to run almost error free and almost at the peak of perfection, they released a new one. I guess they cant be without a job and fixing bugs is their hobby:)

Really! So I suppose that would mean Windows ME was better than Windows 98? Microsoft has released inferior products many times and forced upgrades. It's no accident Gates is the riches human in the universe.

XP is better. Much faster and smoother. I don't need all the pretty extras that Vista comes with. I have more important things to do with my RAM and CPU. Maybe they need to make a Male & Female version of Vista. The current Vista is like a womens version of XP.

I have a tripple boot with XP, Vista & Ubuntu.

    I boot in to:

    80% - XP
    15% - Ubuntu
    5% - Vista

That says it all, and when i first got Vista in Nov it was 100% and has dwindled to %5 usage and to the point now that i go a week or two and forget i even own it.

5%? You're doing better than me. I made it for about 3 weeks, and uninstalled Vista. It is complete junk. Pretty, pretty junk. Like putting a new paint job and some nice rims on a Yugo.

I would say I use Ubuntu about 80% and XP about 20%. Most of the time I use XP it's only because that happens to be the computer I am closest to. Some programs that I like alot are written for XP, so I still keep it around.

If it ever gets to the point where I have to dump XP for Vista, I'll just go strictly Linux on all my computers. I'll never use Vista again.

XP is fine for most people right now, but in the long run it will be Vista which is better. As new programs come out they will work better with Vista and Microsoft will make sure Vista is basically necessary for many things (and vista does have the power to do much more than xp, its just a matter of time before it is "harnessed"). They have said it is supposed to be the biggest update since Windows 95.

I'll stay with XP until Vista fully support driver and all that. I hate to see bugs and error while installing something. So wait until it's stable first.

I guess MS need post-release testers from the end users crowd. Otherwise, debugging will stop right there. That's why it's good to see that some of us are enjoying the Vista.

They will help finding and correcting any bugs. On a computer like mine where Photoshop and Dreamweaver, and CuteFTP are running like system applications and shut down only when I shut the computer down, I doubt there is any time left for testing a new OS.

For the time being, XP: Vista will be flawed with stuff no doubt; just like older releases.

Though, in a few months time, when all creases are ironed out it will be great to have Vista!

Though, vista = new computer as my processors/RAM arent up to it lol.

Is it a new machine that you got it with or an upgrade?
