Is it possible for $1 domains?

I just saw that $1.99 domains are available.
Can anyone confirm what is it ?

Well, it is possible. Sometimes domain registrars may offer domain names for the first year at below cost prices so as to attract customers to use them in the hope that they will continue for the subsequent years so as to recover their cost and make a profit.

 

I don't see $1.99 domains anywhere on the page.

 

Are we talking about .info ?
Because no other extension offer a similar price promo (some .org too but that's it from what i know of course)

 

I remember reading somewhere that they are offering the .cn for US$1 for the first year as a promotional price.

 

usually they offer cheap at first year and a bit expensive for the rest of the year
