Why such high restrictions to make good use in a thread that some people really need ?

I dont have time to spam up 15 more posts just for the sake of adding content to an already busy forum. I want to hire out, I'd think that would be much better for the users here. Especially the coders needing work.

If its allowed from 1st post only, then buy/sale/trade forum will be full of spam .. Everyday a new member will sign up for the sake of BST trading only.

I understand that completely but in todays age there are other solutions to combat such issues. How does "Make 25 Posts" in other threads combat spam ?

I see this as a common method for most forums to be able to place links in signatures and such, among other things. and thats ok. But I'm looking to buy, think of how much work is being lost from this. How well would any sales site do if they requested 10 articles of content to be posted before you can ask to buy their product.

I came here specifically to buy.. the only reason im here today. I was drawn here with the appeal that I could find what I need. When I was drawn here there was no upfront information telling me that before i can make such a request I would have to "work" for it. If I had the kind of time it takes to post in forums I'd instead use that time to script myself and not risk my commisioned work being mass produced. I'm even leary at this point of posting publically what I need now so I think this little delay may have just lost me at this point.

I know there are good coders looking in those threads, my loss I guess.

It's cost me 20-30 minutes just making this thread. Financially I'm running at a loss. I refuse to spam crap for the sake of making posts so I cant wander around throwing replies up all over the place.

If I had continued searching and not stopped here in the first place I may have found a solution already. I have just re-opened two other browsers now looking for other options.

I will still keep an eye open here in this thread however.

not looking to change rules.. looking to talk about what i think is odd
interested in others point of view as well. I would think in any popular revenue site solutions can be explored to better make use of what they have to offer.

if you step away from the forum for a moment and look at the big picture you may see what I see.

I was drawn here, through search. I was drawn here believing I can find a coder for my needs. There was no immediate mention made of me having to work by placing several posts beforehand. I had a membership here long before i came here today. I dont come here often but i do every other month. Usually through search engine results. Only after I checked out the posts on the thread i found in search did i attempt to make a post, even pre-thought of the wording and explanation of what i was looking to have done. Only to be denied posting at that point.

My point is the above. I wasted my time.

I'm not trying to change things.

I'm bringing to light that with perhaps some creative thought a solution can be brought about by the owners of the forum. They dont need to change things but it would only be good for the forum. I could have been a regular contributor to any one of the striving coders here. I might even get to 25 posts today but simply out of my hard headed ways I wont be posting in that thread at this point. The only reason I'm building up my posts now is the results of this thread.

    bst plea ?

im not even sure what was edited out. did i say a "not so nice word" ?

And to the others concerned about me making posts simply to build my post score ? Please, im not doing this to build it up. Odds are I'll get busy and be gone for another month., and as i stated in my post above i wont be hiring out from that thread so i have nothing to gain outside of understanding and suggesting.

    And as for whinning ?
    im not whinning here.

If it's thought my posts here are an attempt to build up my score so i can post somewhere else in the forum ive never even been yet then edit them and place them in one block.. even put me to 0 manually. It's obvious thats important to some, but not to me.

Look at this way. You can contribute 25 posts to the forum to get access to free posting in the Buy/Sale/Trade area, or they could just start charging everyone to post a sale like Sitepoint and EarnersForum does. 25 posts really isn't much to ask for.

You can easily PM anyone in the BST section until your post count reaches the right amount. Then you are not losing any time or money.

agreed roadies. But I cant bring myself to search out topics to comment on just for the sake of commenting. Yes I'm fickle.

    FanAddict:
I'm a member of probably 8 forums right where ive posted between 10 and 2k posts each over several years. All domain and web dev type forums. I've dont usually send a PM to anyone without them asking for PM first (or I deal with them already), I dont come to DP often so I dont know anyone here and I'm looking for something specific in my own post. Would be easier for me to keep it in order as I come back to check on it.
