I think if you contact that guy they will probably remove the links. Also Nash welcome back from being banned.
Are their server loads normally 4.50, 6.80, even as high as 21.50+!!!? I asked them twice to move me (still during the 30 day trial), and ...they actually refused twice. Hostgator claims an average ~6.40 server load is 'fine'... Server load can be based on many factors & usually the site seems to load fast enough Q's) Do you think your HG hosted sites usually load fast enough? Is the server I have now 'much worse than their normal'? Some info from other users would help. Thanks
I have hosted with hostgator and one thing that they got going for them is speed. My sites loaded extremely fast.
I think your server is worse than normal. I tried to ask them to remove the links, but they will not. For me this is greed and its not paying in the long run.
You will be blind to them in no time but they are pretty bright - sucking your attention away from important webmastering duties
Hostgator is a good place to start but I seriously suggest you move to the hosting offered by other members of DP we are webmasters and we shouldnt be paying these rates, you know there are members offering the same service for about 25-30 dollars a year!
Sounds like somebody is a greedy gator. Pretty unproffesional move by them just to make a few extra bucks.
Where are they? I need high bandwidth and unlimited domains $30 year sounds sweet i'm paying $100 all up right now 3 different hosts.(month)
DP has a sub-forum for hosting: Buy Sell & Trade >> Services >> Hosting and Other forums too. ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~ Within one day you can have 5, 10, or more (very cheap) accounts. Monitor the sever load (on WHM & even many C-panels) It takes months of effort and time to find really great hosts Some of the best will eventually go bad, but it's worth the effort to try many different hosts.
Ouch, that was much. I have VPS and hosting accounts at several hosts, the reason I do not use the private offers here at DP is that I do not trust them to last. Sure, some are ok, but some are crap. So I use Hostgator because I can trust them.

1. $25, 60Gb, unlimited bandwith - all for LIFE, yes right, like thats gonna happen 2. maybe ok 3. server1.txounlimited.com/suspended.page/ - "This Account Has Been Suspended" AND THAT IS THE HOST!!! that one lasted for long This is exactly why I use established hosts.
It looks like reseller customers don't get it. I've logged into my reseller and three accounts on it and don't have any ads.
Considering that c/panel costs WAY TOO MUCH money considering what it does, I can understand them having to supplement those costs since their hosting fees obviously do not come close to offsetting the cost of c/Panel.
Ah, MIA, now you've gone and ruined everything. The cry babies will have to find another thread now to bitch and moan about something insignificant.... Jim
I don't see why people are crying over this? So what they put 2 ads in. It's not like all your sites is down. I have Hosting with them as well and the ads doesn't bother me at all! Sure it would be nice to not have them there but as I said it's not like all your sites are down. The only thing I find a bit annoying is that it loads a little slower for me. But that's because my internet connection sucks (here in Thailand)
Sorry man.. I've been doing hosting for a decade now, and the ridiculous cost of cPanel is what keeps me from using it. You can do the same with Webmin or the command line and pass the savings onto clients instead, mainly in the way of good hands on support.
A secret to you: Sometimes, if you do not talk about things that seems small they often grow big. That is if you care about stuff... but that is not for you I suppose.
The issue isn't that there are ads, but that there are ads suddenly placed in something we're paying for. If it were just on a free site or service there would be no problem in the slightest. However, Hostgator is one of the last hosts that could use the cost of cpanel as justification for adding ads to a paid service, since they're one of the bigger guys... it's simply a cost of doing business, and it should already be factored into the fact that they charge more than many of their competitors. You shouldn't be asking your customers to pay for it via higher fees and then shoving ads in their face at the same time... one or the other.
