Drawing pad for the computer?

Discussion in 'Graphics & Multimedia' started by ninjashoes, Mar 31, 2007.

I have just recently become interested in doing artwork on the computer. I have done some tutorials and I was wondering if those drawing pads things really make it easier to draw stuff on the computer.

Is there a place where I can find a cheap deal on one?

You mean tablets? Depending on which one you get, it feels like drawing directly onto a surface, and you can control everything from brush size, pressure and color easily. I love using tablets.

Check out Wacom for the best tablets:

Yeah, i recommend wacom. Their tablets are the best but you have to spend quite an amount because they aren't cheap for me. I bought an a4 sized tablet for like 400 bucks.

They are durable so i think it is worth the investment

yes, wacom - intous range is really good for digital works

the price has gone down quite a bit since the last I purchased mine a year ago...save for a new one as it's more economical in the long run.

I think the Waycom graphire are very good for the price. Not as good as the intuos, but much cheaper.

If you do get one, get the biggest one possible. The sensitivity and control is much better with the bigger tablets.

I use a Wacom Intuos 2. It's a little old, but decent. It has a learning curve in regard to hand-eye coordination at first...but I'd imagine that not much longer, the "see as you draw on the tablet" versions will start becoming standard soon.

Wacom's tablets are so far the best "drawing pad" I've used. Mine is A4 sized too and so far works perfectly well for me, so it is my strong recommendation.:)

Have you tried ebay? They tend to sell things for less! I picked up a nice used one that works perfectly :)

What kind of problem with the pen tip? The sensitivity of it or it gets 'blunt' after a while?

so far I've not encountered any problem with the pen tip, but then, I've only used it for a year and not actively using it...like a few days a month...

There should be some extra pen tips when you purchase the pad.
