How easy is it to get a SEO job in the USA? Do many employers require you have web development skills? Also in terms of experience, are there many junior to medium level roles in demand? Another thing, is organic SEO as in demand as PPC jobs? Thanks in advance for any help.
I have been searching Monster, not much job open in New York. Also, dcristo you are not from US right? You will need to find someone who is willing to give you a working visa. This year the working visa quota is already gone, so the fastest you will wait till apirl next year
I am from Australia mate. Thanks for the tips. Would a medium level role be sufficient for a working visa do you think? Guess you could gloss it up a bit and call it consultancy.
Organic SEO will get you the job if you have +2 years of experience and had worked before for another SEO company (If you didn't work before you will need a good portfolio showing your achievements), any way try to craft a nice resume and apply, who knows Good luck
U need to built a strong portfolio first and show good experience in seo. right now u can do one thing just find some seo company from US who outsource SEO work and show them your work.they will outsource some SEO work and if they realize u r right candidate they might call u there. all the best man
Have been mate for years now, but working for yourself isn't all it's cracked up to be sometimes. Thanks for all the responses so far. One important question which hasn't been tackled so far, how important is having web development experience in your resume for a SEO job?
yes, as long as you income meet the minimum requirement of the job title, you should have no problem. Also, the job title is given by your employer and no one check. My title is database admin, but i don't touch any database at all. so if you employer is nice, you should have no problem applying one (beside the quota is really tight, this year it ran out two day after the application start
As far as seo job is concern they ask for the following things - soe understanding like onsite and off site optimization, and basic term like what is supplemental result, what is sand box bla bla. - Basic knowledge of html, xml - basic knowledge of css, and any editor like dreamweaver. - knowledge of SEM,and PPC will be more beneficial. - if u know scripting language than it will be plus point. - main things u have to show is your sites on which u have done SEO and u have to show the ranking thanks it.
"One important question which hasn't been tackled so far, how important is having web development experience in your resume for a SEO job?" It is very important and a good asset, but still you may find a SEO job without it
