It's pretty rubbish in my opinion. What is the return rate on users who find your site via image searches? Probably < 1% And who is to say that the referrals are relevant in the first place to your site's content? People are getting quality and quantity confused when they use this type of search method.
Yes you are absolutely spot on ! Most of the people do not use image search and also it is pretty black hat SEO
i dont get this. if you are using this method instead of using the direct link to images on your site you use the one google images uses?
Yeah, I don't understand how this works. I don't think that articles explains clearly... can someone (who this worked for) please sum this up?
Well, that seems to be the general question here about this. No one quite seems to understand how it works; that's why I haven't tried it. And in the other thread about this, everyone had mixed results. But it's hard to say that it's actually black hat because no understands how it works. It's the kind of thing I'm tempted to ask google about (not that I'd get an answer).
Well, for me, it's not just how it works, but what to do in order to get traffic. It's unclear for me in even the steps. I can't do it if I don't understand what to do Can someone sum it up?
ive not received anything from it - but I cant upload a sitemap and enable image searching as Im trying it on a free blog. not sure if thats the reason why it isnt working for me or that google have now worked out how to stop it.
On a similar note though. If you have images on your site, be sure to include alt tags to the images. Then go into the Google tools and turn on the image search for your site. If you don't mind the images being stolen or perhaps hotlinked to you could get a lot of traffic from that. I have a site on Kauai Hawaii, lots of great pictures. On a regular basis I check my stats and if I'm getting a lot of hotlinked pulls on the picture, I add my URL to the bottom of that picture so that every time someone displays it they also display my url. I then upload a renamed picture up on my site without the URL and link to the new one in my site. Little extra work, but my url is being seen hundreds of times a day on quite a few sites where they are stealing my picture.
this is ridiculous it doesn't matter HOW it works because it IS illegal hotlinking IS illegal even on the very slim chance that the image ISN'T copyrighted, you are STEALING bandwidth and bandwidth=money it's simple enough to check if someone is hotlinking to your sites what makes you think google isn't running the same checks? I mean duh, this IS their business after all now I'm sure they can't keep up with EVERYONE that hotlinks to their site but you can rest assured that if you're making money from a site (either with them - which is stupid anyways - ever heard the phrase "don't bite the hand that feeds you?") or with other ad programs, affiliates, etc. they absolutely are entitled to SUE you for their share of the pie but whatever - do what you want. vanessa.
Well first nobody knows clearly how this thing works and second its not allowed. How can you hotlink someone's image and steal their bandwidth ? This is definitely a black hat SEO!
Ok, this baby works like a dream. I'm pulling 50 uniques a day from this. Not much but it's a lot for some rookie like me. However, I'm going to take it off because of all of the "not allowed by google" talk. Jeez, I never get a break do I.
