My Template - Please Rate

Alright im not expecting an amazing or anything on this but i wanted to make a simple yet effective template. This is a work in progress. Also, if you have any suggestions please post them or contact me via AIM, MSN, or YIM. Well anyways... here it is:

 

being honest, I didnt like color combination at all.

 

The white background behind Hello World doesn't look good. Other than that, its okish.

 

IMO, the navigation should be black otherwise, it looks nice

 

thanks for your suggestions but i need something to but in the top area... it seems empty like its missing something... what could i put there?

 

Maybe a nicely formatted Adsense block?

 

im not an ads guy, thats just using up space that nobody really cares about... i want everything to be useful... thanks tho what else you got?

 

yeah i saw that but im thinking i might use some dark blue in there... agree?

 

u could use lighter grey shades, and also, ur right navigation menu looks kinda 2D. add some drop shadows and shading to the menu buttons. blue coloured buttons might work, its all about testing.
usually, it takes me a few days to create a banner, i did like 3+ complete makeovers each time and minor tweaks here and there (well, i am not a pro graphics guy). so do some testing, look at some web templates out there (free or not, doesn't matter) and get some inspiration.

at the top, you can add a newsflash with fancy graphical box around the text, or a picture that best describes your site.

 

The template needs some graphics.. and I think the black links are way too harsh. (try dark grey instead)

Yup grey is not my style so did not like it much. Hard to read the navigation links also

why does there always have to be ads?! i just dont understand that, i mean for those who have small monitors (i dont i got like 15 in.) its just using up space for them...

 

15 inch IS a small monitor.

1. News titles should be on the left. The majority of people read left to right, not right to left. The eye automatically looks to the left corner for the title.

2. The colours are poor, 90% gray and white.

3. The menu is too small. The purpose of having a menu is allowing the user access the info they want quickly and easily, having a small menu that fades into the background is pointless.

4. You have completely ignored the grid system for layouts. Each elements aligns differently to the others, visually confusing.

I could go on and on, but I would suggest you get someone else to do the design for you.

 

Crimsonc... thanks a lot for what your said... this is exactly what I wanted. I knew it was not a good template and I kinda wanted it to be butchered. I didnt try to make a bad one but I was just throwing this together. Thanks a lot for everthing

 

No, they don't need to be there. I just believed that you are would like to make some money (sorry I'm marked with DP)

 

It would be great if you add some other colors specially in the sidebar.
The blue part in the top is great and the design is also great. But I don't like the color in the lower part.
