Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone could suggest as to how to go about creating own filter list to filter out all the pesky low paying MFAs, i know sites like adsenseblacklist and those exist, but I figured my own list would be utmost accurate. Any suggestions?
No easy way to do this - use the Google Adsense Preview tool in combination with Adlogger and see where the clicks go. If the clicks go to an MFA site, add that site to your list. It's kinda futile though because the sites change frequently. Google is using smart-pricing to counter Adsense arbitrage so these days, I just leave it to the Googlebot to figure out what ads to display.
Thanks for the reply, that makes perfect sense, just all the stories about the increase in revenue after filtering out MFA and low paying ads are very encouraging. I guess I will have to give AdLogger a go, see where that takes me. Any other suggestions?
I've just posted this in a VERY similar thread, you might find it helpful. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2732135&postcount=8
Thanks a lot, I guess this is not for me then, I get 3000+ clicks a day so it would be quiet a pain to track every click on every page.
Is it safe to use Adlogger ? I get low $ clicks too sucks a lot because it happens all the time last days.
Not very easily or even probable! The original version of that post was aimed at some folks who were just starting out and were at less than 100 clicks for the month, so for them it would be quite easy to implement. I can sometimes still get info using that method if the clicks are on channels that don't get as many clicks.
Hehe, my "richness" highly depends on the niceness of google aka if it blesses me with 0.04 average per click or 0.07+ that day
The problem I had with that (but I certainly encourage people to give it a whirl and see if it works for their particular content) is that none of the sites in the 200 were even showing up on my own that I could see...and several obvious low-paying MFAs that I was getting were not in the list. That is why I've gone to examining my site itself, seeing what ads are there, checking them out, and deciding if they are MFA or not. Often I'll see if I can check their actual CPC on my site by the method I describe above and then make a decision to filter them or not. My method is definitely more time-intensive but I think it has worked well for me. [SOAPBOX] However, that's usually the case, the more time you put into something, the more reward. Sort of like the whole adsense business to begin with [/SOAPBOX]
Yeah I have tried that, it only give 30 or 50 URLS though... and they are for the very general niche and doesnt really block to what seems to be the most pesky MFAs on my site.
Good point I also block the completely irrelevant ads, like au to s. ya hoo. com jeep cherokee ads show up on all sites of all niches because yahoo targeting is so poor, so even though it might pay ok , I stilll block it since it hinders CTR. The only thing Im affraid of is blocking well paying MFAs if there is such a thing
I just type in the URLs in a new browser window when I see them appear, and if it looks like a cheaply done or MFA site, it gets blocked. Adsblacklist was no help to me - it just spit out tons of sites that have never appeared in my ads to begin with.
Funny this topic came up. Google has now started giving me optimization reports and told me that my blacklist was too extreme and most likely costing me money, I have maxed it out at the 500 allowed. i never bothered checking whether they were going to come up. But as of today I'm going to delete the whole thing, run it for a month and see how it pans out. Extreme testing, extreme results hopefully, or extreme poverty
I think everyone got the optimization report about too many mfa's if they had any. I would not trust it overly much since accodring to google it is an "automate process", so it probably just tells you that if you have over particular # of sites in the filter. Also it is 500 allowed?!?1 Thought it was 200
