How many of you have made it to top ten?

Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys have made it to the top ten in major search engines for tough keywords? And how long did it take you to get there?

 

How tough do you mean? top 10 out of hundreds of million pages?

 

Yeah, tough, you know. Tough! Like "Internet Marketing", "Weight Loss", and so on. I'm just wondering whether it's possible for us (not big companies) to do that.

 

i m on #1 position for highly competitive keyword for my site around 2,430,000 competition.
other keyword on #1 among 22,200,000 competition.

i m on this position since last one month and it took around 2 months for get the #1 rank.

 

ZoomCities - http://www.zoomcities.com is in the TOP 10 in Google for the keyword IT COMMUNITY (without the quotes) out of almost 2 Billion Result!!

Anything is possible, given the right budget.

 

I'll post after a month when I reach #1.

 

we have a lot of keywords on the top rank but i am not sure if thats what your saying as Tough keywords...i think anything is possible if you will do everything for it...

 

One of my site ranks in top 10 for keyword Bollywood Wallpapers. Most of the traffic on my site is through this.

#5 for a search term that has 38,000,000 returns.

7 months of hard work and its now paying off.

 

We rank for law related phrases. We have over 20 search terms (without quotes) that rank in the top 6.

It is content and hard work that got us here.

 

i don't target the high keywords, i try to get it with the easy keywords. you get to the top easily and get decent traffic from it.

"cyber club", "social networking website" etc are my targets!

 

I have done it many times. My best was #2 in google for very high competitive keyword (Over 900 million) related to web design. I forget to mention the time i took. It was mere 3-4 months. But site was 2+ year old.

Discussing just this who was in top #10 is just waste of time, so making a bit use, I want to disclose few methods by which I got that rank in serps.

(1) I did on-page seo of every page and every paragraph after well prepared and decided keyword list.
(2) I did on-page seo and did link building like anything, and it was well planned and keyword focussed.
(3) I wrote 5-6 very good articles and some experiments and request webmasters to put them on their site. I requested webmasters whos site have atleast PR6 or Pr7
(4) I bought 4 links with with having that keyword in anchor. 1 backlink from PR6 and 2 from PR8 and 1 from PR7

And yes, I can do it again.

one more thing i want to add is
- Do some Directory submission which helps u to get more back links.

Of course it's encouraging to see people doing well on competitive keywords. I would be curious on how the ROI has looked for those of you that have done well. For example did you manage to get your site towards the top through extensive use of paid links, free SEO tactics, or a little bit of both?

 

I don't have any of my in house project this moment. But i will let u know after 1 or 2 months.
Though i have lots of out house project (cleint's project), which are at the top at this moment.

Read this carefully:

I've seen many people say they Rank X out of 10 milion results, which is absolutely wrong. I've once seen a video about competition on SE like Google for example. If you just try to go to the last page, they are couple tousands the most, the rest are similar pages.

Therefor the competition is way lower than the number of results recieved.
