I think the solution to low conversion rates is to make YPN public. How do they expect good conversion rates from publishers if ads are irrelevant most of the time? I've tried a couple of niches, even general niches and I still get irrelevant ads. The more publishers there is, the more advertisers there will be.

Normally I would disagree, but in their case I agree.

Sergej and Larry are on it. Yahoo! does everything halfass.

IMO, a low conversion rate has more to do with the advertiser writing bad ad's that don't convert, not where they are published.

For example: Advertising "free ringtones" and then the ringtones not actually being free when a potential customer clicks through, probably isn't going to lead to a great conversion rate.

That's pretty funny that YPN tries to blame the publisher...haha

    here is the deal

The site is nextpimp.com it is a ringtone website. It has over 400,000 users and has had the same content and users for 3 years. YPN called me and said the ads were converting very poorly. I looked and saw that they were targeting mortgage and credit cards... so duhh...why would a ringtone site convert for those.

I put adsense on and they can magically target properly....

Yea, YAHOO does have some poor targeting

Now that you switched to adsense, You should be doing better anyhow right?

I mean google pays less , but the ads match more, So I would think that would actually do better

    Am I wrong?

Not when you take a look at the overall income from trying both at the same spots on the same sites.

It doesn't matter how large you are. If your traffic is junk, it's junk.

^ True words. Yahoo has probably hundreds of big publishers, and even more huge publishers on the waiting list to get in. We are all but one small needle in a haystack.

YPN is retarded. Even when you try to target a category relativly related to your site it displays mostly trash ads now, at least the category system used to work reasonably well. Not to mention the low quality of the ads, with all "false advertising"...but same goes for adsense, and only the publisher is to blame when the pos ads don't convert.

With my nonexistant programming skills I could probably write a script that can target ads better than YPN.

I doubt that Shoemoney would have poor converting - it does seem more likely that a problem of targeting and bad ads

This is why they are in BETA. They have programmers that probably programmed the internet. I don't see what's so hard to understand.

Shoe, come on... Yahoo just wanted them to get a mortgage and a credit card so they could buy ringtones from another affiliate on your site ;)

One is the result of the other -- poor targeting leads to poor conversions because you have people looking for ringtones clicking on ads for mortgage rates. ;)

Agreed, I just can't believe it and that confirms the poor performance of YPN, in fact I'm having low conversion rates with Adsense, though I'm very far from Shoemoney's websites success

Do they have ringtone ads on YPN?
Just a thought because their algo can't be that inefficient.
