What would you do if you had this domain name?

I have a domain name I have had for years, but I cannot think of what kind of site to make from it.

The domain name is Bitcha.com, and it is what some people with attitude call women down here in the south when they get mad. They add the a with an attitude like slur.

A friend of mine wants me to develop it into a dating site, another suggests selling adult toys from it. He even went so far as to provide graphics of a dominating woman with a whip over a man......sigh

I would like the advice of a few women (or rational men), since most men seem to think a name like that could only be used for sexual content.

I do not like the idea of a dating site, because to me dating sites represent a place where married people can locate one night stands (old story, my ex still does this) and because of my moral beliefs I will not operate a site that could contribute to marital strife or breakups.

I also will not sell adult items, once more because of my moral beliefs.

I thought to have a wordpress blog as an online rant blog, BUT I gave that up.....I don't have time to rant about everyday topics.

I feel the name is suitable as a support site for women, who need a place to chat with other women.....as we all know, women can get bitchy and sometimes it's good to have a safe haven to rant.

I also feel it would be suitable as a "Men, this is what you need to do for a happier relationship" type site, where men can go to get advice from women about things they could do to make their wives happier.

I'm not really sure what to do with the name, I have had it for several years and I cannot come up with any good ideas.

At this point, I plan to let it expire if I cannot think of something. It's a good, catchy, short name that could be developed into a great site, if one does not mind operating a dating or adult toys site....but for someone like me, whose moral beliefs won't allow that.....well I don't know.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice? Or should I just let it expire?

I don't think that name would fly for a site geared towards teens. I would probably go for the adult sector simply for the brandability of the domain.

None of these 2 seems to be a valid model to monetize a site. I duno, as a men, I cannot see any men paying for the later.

If you have problem building a porn, dating, adult toys... site around it, I'd suggest you build a simple template on it, build some backlinks to it, and then sell it on sitepoint marketplace, and let those without the same moral burden to do it.

Mike, I could never operate a teen site with a name like that, it's not really suitable for anyone under 21. But thanks for the suggestion.

Eight, do you have any suggestions for niche ideas in the "adult sector" that would not be degrading to women?

Domonic, men would not have to pay anything....I would not care if the site made any money at all. I would just like for it to be something that uplifts women. I can come up with a zillion ideas if I wanted to make it a site for men, ideas that would not be held back due to my moral beliefs.

The Internet is full of things that uplift men, things that cater to men’s sexual needs (Viagra) etc. You find it everywhere......you rarely find anything that caters to women’s emotional needs.

And most women can get witchy when their emotional needs are not met....which is why I think the name is suitable as a site for women and not for men.

I also would not develop it into something for men, just to sell to someone so they can use it in that manner. It's a good idea, but to me, if I develop it to sell......I want it to uplift women in some way.

Thanks for the advice guys, it gives me some things to think about.

Eight, I'll go look up the terms "adult sector" and see if I see anything else that would be suitable. I've never used that term to search before....I may find something suitable.

You could do a tgp gallery style site then pick some affiliates to sell products for. That would be very little work on your part once it got going.

Make it an attitude-driven content site for women in their 20s or 30s... cover topics like dating (not a hook up site, but articles on how to date safely, date ideas, etc.), easy and quick meals for young busy women, career advice for young women wanting to move up the career ladder, fashion trends for that group, etc.... basically an online magazine dealing with everything that would appeal to that group, in a fun way that would appeal to modern women. They're the age range most likely to look at the general word "bitch" in an almost empowering way... like a site for strong women. Definitely attach a forum to it.

Yea I dont think there is anyway u can turn that domain name into something positive for women. All indications point to adult industry with a name like that.

The best I could think of is for you to put any content with the word bitcha on ur site. Jokes, stories etc. But then the content would be degrading too I assume.

Eight, the search I did for tgp pulled more porn than positive. Although this does get me thinking, maybe a site for healthy women, not those starving themselves to have model bodies. Somewhere women can post photos to be rated by visitors, and where visitors can post something positive about them. I'm not sure if this would work, but I'm going to think on this a bit more.

Jennifer that is the BEST idea I have heard yet. Most of the women I know get offended at the word, but I sometimes forget that in some countries (and some states even) it's actually a compliment that friends bestow on each other. Down here in the Bible belt, EVERYTHING it seems is offensive unless you live in Atlanta and I sometimes forget that most people are not so prudish.

I forgot one niche that actually would be perfect for the domain name. I did a search to see if I could find areas where the word is not offensive, and it seems that it's not offensive to transvestites either. They consider it a great compliment. I have a guy friend that is like this, and he's always saying that he's a bitch......(looooong story but it's great to go out with him in Atlanta, you get wined and dined like a queen with no expectations, he's a WONDERFUL man and you get no odd looks because they are accepted as the real people that they are in Atlanta, not as freaks as they are treated here in rural areas).

If I do not go with your suggestion, I think it may work to have it as a forum where transvestites can feel welcome. Not a meeting to date place, just a gathering place because I feel that they are a lonely bunch sometimes that need regular everyday friends too that will accept them for who they are.

But I am leaning towards your idea most...it's a great one.

Bunny, The Rosie fan site idea is also a good one, but I would be afraid of the legal issues that one encounters when doing a celebrity site.

BLieve, the only reason the word is seen as taboo is because men made it that way (and snobbish women). I'm one to tell people that call me that, "Yep, I am one and I am proud of it". Because to me, the term is not bad, it means "A woman who does not let people walk all over her". It's better than being called a doormat. But I can see how a joke site can be done, just as there are blond jokes that are not degrading to blonds....there could be some that are not degrading to women or men. I'm just not very good with making up jokes, but still it is a good idea.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone, my mind is rolling now with the possibilities. I am going to think on this for a few days at least, and do some research to see which could be best, unless anyone else has some good ideas.

But an attitude driven site for women, with a gallery where they can flaunt their stuff regardless of weight or looks (to me everyone is beautiful although I know some do not think like that)...this sounds like a good plan to pursue.

Reps given to a few, thanks so much for being so open minded and seeing what I am trying to do here, and for also thinking outside of the box.

I have to go with JHMATTERN on this one- As a woman and a black woman at that- bitch is used badly but if you can turn it around - women will come..Like BUSY INDEPENDENT TALENTED CURVEOUS think of something for with h and a- sick cant think of anything right now..but you can turn this around for women and give them something positive about the word..
or Busy Independent Talented Curveous Heels- loving women with ATTITUDE.. it can mean something close jsut have to think- women have made the word bitch mean something more so you can find other ways to change the words

Beauty thanks, I have decided to go with Jennifer's suggestion and your play on the letters is fantastic. It will definately have a forum, and I've already setup the hosting for the name and I have a few people already researching topics. Can I use this:

Busy Independent Talented Curveous Heels- loving women with ATTITUDE..

Since it's your creation, I wanted to ask first.

You may want to change your 'c' and 'h' options to something a bit broader (you wouldn't want to turn thinner women away (especially if targeting partly in the 20s age group), and heels are actually a nemesis to a lot of those "women with attitude". ;) For 'h' why not try something simple like 'healthy' or just 'happy?' For 'c', you could again go with something broader, like 'creative,' 'captivating,' or something similar? :)
