lol.. I just got another infraction and I thought I was being so careful! I clicked on the "report this" button and asked for my old thread to be closed because I had new information about a link sale that I wanted to post but didn't want to get in trouble for bumping my old thread... figured I'd have the old one closed and open a new one... got an infraction for duplicate post and whoever it was moved the new one to the end of the old one which bumped it anyway! Can't win for loosing!

You don´t have to have an old thread closed. When it´s old, chances are that members here will expect the information on it not to be up to date. Just start a new one and link to the old one mentioning that the information on it is no longer valid.

but then the duplicate thread thing?

Yes, the site is new and I was having issues with the script and I added new features to the site to make it better for the customers today - that's why I started the new thread.

Can someone of the reputed members please explain to me what happens in the following situation.

I didn't close of my older threads (older than 60 days I guess), some member replied to it now, should I also reply to him openly in my thread?

Will I get an infraction for my reply in my own thread even after some member has replied to it asking for info about that particular service??

Also I usually get infractions on DP but they are often reversed. What do reversed infractions actually mean??

Thanks for all your help, fellas.

if he ask you some question about your service, you should answer in thread

however, if he want you to pm more detail, you don't need to reply with "pm sent" kind of crap

if you are no longer offering that service, just request the thread be locked and PM the member saying you're no longer offering it.

    otherwise, do what ahkip says.

as for your econd question, a reversed infraction means mods made a mistake and they're reversing it.

Well, in this case, yes... it's a link bidding site so there are always links for sale.

I see no problem with that at all, as long as it´s a different deal.

Can someone then tell me how old a thread has to be before I re-post in the links for sale section?

Since it's a link bidding site, there are always going to be links for sale so the deal is only going to be different in the amount of the current highest bid and lowest bid... so, any advice on this... how long from the last post on the old thread before I post a new thread with updated information or, should I add to the old thread rather than start a new one?

Thanks in advance. Just trying to stay within the rules ;)

I think that common sense is the best rule. If you have a need to start a new thread, just do it. I doubt that you get an infraction high enough to get you in trouble for starting a similar thread too soon. Look at the web directory section. People post a new special for submissions every week for the same directory. And as far I know, nobody has been infracted for that reason.
