Stop focusing so much on reps. ;)

The main purpose of this forum is to learn and have fun.

I made the following point on a similar thread, and I'll do it again because I think it is important on a forum where having a low rep can cost you privileges. The point being that there should be some accountability, or the rep should count for nothing meaningful (unless it's itrader rep maybe).

As an example someone gave me a red rep with the comment "opps" on for this thread:

I have been lucky not to get much red rep, not much green either though (guess I'm not that helpful) but what drives me crazy is infractions!

The latest one was for posting a "comment" in a link sales thread - all I said was that I was going to watch before bidding.

Geez, I post link sales threads all the time, some people comment and unless it's a negative thing about my thread, I'm thrilled to have people keep it near the top of the board!

I don't even know what happens when you get infractions... I assume if you get enough you could get banned... luckily I'm not "that bad".

ever since i involved myself into Rep stuff, i started surfing my usercp more than the forums and threads and it kinda wasted loads of ma time....so the better it is to stop ask people to give you green, or in other words forget REP ... like i have done and you will live a peaceful life.... all green maybe:D:D

I'm all for signing my name on all reps given
but I think in your case sandra I might have to make an exception
look at the conniption fit you're taking over this?
if they HAD signed their names I'm sure you'd be all over them like white on rice in retaliation

LOL... I read the thread and then got another infraction... but I looked and the one's I've had are "warnings" (no points)... but the whole thing was too stupid.

I registered in my mind that bumping your own thread was wrong and so is duplicate posts but I had a link sales thread that was down on page 6 or 8 of the board and I had new information about the site I wanted to add.

So, I requested that the original thread be closed via report this post button - explained the situation and why I had opened the new thread and actually said I didn't know if I was doing it right but I was trying to do the right thing and not get a warning

Face it, people read the first post on the link sales forum and that's it and this new information was pretty important imho so I wanted it seen.

Anyway, I got an infraction warning for the duplicate thread but the mod moved the new thread to the old one and bumped my original thread anyway!

I really CAN'T win for loosing some days! sigh.

Lisa who's going to quit sweating this stuff as long as there are no points - I have bigger stuff to stress out about.
