Interesting Pattern

Hey DP,

Ive noticed a weird thing lately...I know alot of people have noticed their rank position in SERPS go down a bit..me as well.

BUT

even though my SERP ranking have gone down,..my google referrals are higher than ever....

any thoughts on this?

My SERPs are actually getting better - only four spots away from the first page for "home theater" in G

 

hmm... this is pretty interesting indeed.. Maybe Google is getting more queries for your keywords

Possibly these referrals for this keyword are coming from other countries? For example, if you type my name into google, my site comes up as #2 or #3 in the U.S., but not even in the top 50 in Japan.

Many have indicated that Google is starting to go through an update but who knows? I guess we'll see.

 

Something is afoot ... and the plot thickens ...

 

One of my sites is relatively new. It's been in the google index for 4 months or so. Lately it has gotten as high as 6th for my most important keyword phrase for about 4 days, but then it completely drops out of the serps for about a week, then comes back at about the same position. That started about 3 weeks ago, before that it was more of a steady climb up the rankings. One day I'm flying high, and a few days later google isn't even sending me traffic from secondary keyword phrases. It's frustrating as hell.

Edited to add: I wonder if it has anything to do with Yahoo Answers and wikipedia going to nofollow links, this particular site had links from both sources.
