Try having all of your keywords in a high PR DMOZ category listing, and see if you still agree with what you've just written...

What you have said is only a repetition of what others with no good quality DMOZ links have said before you.

People like directories, and there was a days when dmoz had a big authority amongst the others, because of particular Google's attention. Nowadays it doesn't matter so much, this is general feeling, but many people still expect good rankings thanks to dmoz.

So, in your opinion, Dmoz is the key for what?

This is very true, and webmasters are only people.

I have had this same fascination for quite some time. Thread upon thread upon thread thread upon thread upon thread upon thread upon thread upon thread upon thread upon . . . (well you get the point!) about the same desperation to get into DMOZ while at the same time saying how useless DMOZ really is. :D I JUST DON'T GET IT :D

When someone figures it out please let me know.

It's not the key for anything. I'm pointing out what more savvy webmasters understand, and what the lesser ones simply rebel against. (mostly because they don't have "the" link) That is, DMOZ links are so coveted because a good one will transform a website from nothing, to top of the SERPs for a given set of keywords - even if the content completely sucks. (I have seen it, and even reported the abuse, thereof)

However, as I mentioned, the best way to see the power of a DMOZ link, is to actually have a site with all of the keywords in the title, and put it in a 5+ PR category. You don't think that would be a boost? I'm not asking you to take my word for it! In my opinion, the less people believe this, the better...

    compostannie,

You don't sound very mechante for a dmoz editor, or may be you didn't catch the DES (dmoz editor syndrome).

If that ......bla bla, that doesn't mean that your web site is bla bla bla, or may be your web site is not worth listing... bla bla.

As for me I learned how to live without Dmoz. I am getting younger , now:D

    Cheers

Or just maybe you've never actually had any experience with real DMOZ editors. Maybe - just maybe - you like repeating the things you see/hear others expel about the ODP and the "culture of corruption" that's so rampant.

Annie is pretty typical, in my experience, of the many good DMOZ editors that I've met. There's bound to be some bad apples, like there are educated idiots hiding behind master's degrees, all over corporate America. Perhaps where you are confused, is that DMOZ editors - probably much like yourself, tend to get a little short when others tell them how to do their job, or make baseless accusations against them, in such personal ways. (often by people who have less than no clue)

If you don't like people crapping on your livelihood, remember that the next time you speak to an editor. Feel free to make your accusations ONLY after you've gotten your FACTS straight. Some of us are just doing the job. We're part of the solution, not the problem. I don't speak for all, of course.

If you have to ask, you've already missed the point.

The only thing I can figure is that you must be making good change from the DP AdSense revenue sharing.

What goes through that mind of yours?

My mind is blank like a white sheet and has thick walls of empties so nothing can penetrate that.

Oh by the way , i aint even got any adsense dp sharing thing going, my adsense XXX is blank under the options here at dp :D

u were talking about this right ?

If you have an AdSense account, you can enter your client ID here. You then have a 50% chance that the AdSense ads displayed are credited to your account on threads you participate in.

It should be in the form of pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

    Code (markup):
?? if so thats blank...just like my mind.. :)

I was just wondering how/why anyone would say so much, without saying anything at all.

You've told me all that I need to know.

Ok, so in any of your points here - this is not me. Don't you think, that you should apologize for put in my mouth words that I haven't say?

Sure! But there are many other options and possibilities to archieve this same! That's why I don't concentrate on Dmoz myself.

o k . . . . but you DO realize you're posting in a dmoz thread? So while you're posting here, in this thread, you ARE concentrating on dmoz.

Maybe you're lost? Would you like a link to another thread? :D
