Hello I have a few domains registered with godaddy. and when somebody use whois my DNS servers are visible. please can you tell me how can i hide this settings ? Should i ask godaddy for a private registration or should i ask my hosting company ? Thank you in advance for your answer
It's a mandated part of your whois data. If you choose not to have name servers, that is possible, but then no dns resolution. You would effectively have dead domains. You would still own them. It's just that no one would know how to get to you.
There are good online tools to determine a domain's DNS records without checking the whois at all. http://www.dollardns.net/cgi-bin/dnscrawler/index.pl You simply can't hide that type of info about your domain name.
As far as I understand the topic starter wants to hide *his* DNS servers, thus they may be changed to something which is used by many people, thus he would be lost among many other users.
What's the point in "hiding" the DNS of your domain? Hide info about who your host is? Hide your server IP? Not going to work!
I guess OP needs it as he doesn't wanna show where he's hosted. Then get your pvt nameservers...that should serve the purpose.
I have never heard of any service that can hide your DNS, whether you use your own nameservers, those of your hosting provider or a free DNS service, it will always be shown
My point exactly, an experienced web-er will always be able to uncover your webhost, no matter how hard you tried to hide it. Get a hosting account with a reputable company and there would be nothing to be ashamed of.
I don't want to change my DNS. A friend of mine wanted to see if this is possible and i really don't know the answers. That's why i have posted here because i was sure i will get an answer. Thank you very much for your help. Regards razvan
